Christmas Morgue (日本語)

Christmas Morgue (English)
It's been three years...
If the two of us weren't quite like this,
Not so irregular, but something common,
There wouldn't be such wonderful snow, would there?
We wouldn't find ourselves so in love, would we?
Let's keep a secret of all that happens next
I pray this tired prayer...
When I can laugh with you, it's as if there's no pain,
And the little town is still so young
"Look, now! The anemones are blooming, see?"
Telling a lie while being buried...
Only footsteps pass the two of us by
Veronicas knock on the door of the morgue
I swing a broken umbrella, saying nothing,
Never taking my left hand away
Still blind, I followed your footsteps,
And I violated my prayer...
Where do we go? We can go anywhere, can't we?
As always, here we are at world's end
"Look, now! The anemones are blooming, see?"
Merry, merry Christmas, but we...
Won't be back again...
If the two of us...
It's been three years...
Were the two of us different in any way, not quite as now we are,
Were we commonplace, to all the world not seeming so bizarre,
All this beautiful snow wouldn't seem as pretty, don't you agree?
And I do believe that we wouldn't feel such love now, would we?
Secrecy we shall vow, to all things that happen now,
And I whisper out a tired prayer...
When I can laugh with you, pain seems a thing I never knew,
Gazing on the little town, I feel it's still so young
"See them now, watch them grow! Anemones are blooming so!"
Being buried to a grave, and still uttering lies
Now our footsteps are the only way we two can pass each other by,
And veronicas knock at the morgue, as if to say goodbye
I sit, swinging my broken umbrella, silent - for what could I say?
And my left hand still holds on so tightly, never to take away
Even if I'm so blind, I chased you from right behind,
As to disregard my solemn prayer...
Where do we dare to go? Are we not free to wander the globe?
Anytime and anywhere, we stand here at world's end
"See them now, watch them grow! Anemones are blooming so!"
Merry, merry Christmas, although I know...
It won't be again...
Were the two of us different in any way...

So I would say that, just from the title and the first line, you could be pretty certain the girl's boyfriend - let's call him Rudolph - died three years ago. (Just a note: see who's on the left and who's on the right? Hey, which twin survived in Rangge, again?)
On his blog, Hachi said something about having the song in mind for a long time. So I present this extremely relevant-looking tweet from a long time ago:
"Hey, Rudolph... Even if this is the end of the world, it's just lovely." The girl stepped through the snow, leaving her footprints. If she were to turn around, she'd see that the two's footsteps continued as if for forever. But she didn't know that. As always, this is the end of the world.
"Followed your footsteps" could just mean she's looking for "traces" of him, but it seems to lead to her "violating her prayer." So it seems possible that after three years, she's given up on that, is fed up with her town, and is following in his footsteps: committing suicide to join him. The PV follows up that line with a balloon, a satellite, a plane, and a rocket, which is very Campanella-esque and signifies that she'll try anything to reach him again. In fact, because she's evidently Christian, heading into the sky is equally symbolic of dying and going to heaven.
Speaking of Christianity, it's time for the inevitable CHRISTIAN SYMBOLISM CORNER. (Look, it's literally called Christmas Morgue.) Anemones are commonly associated with the blood of Christ on the cross, and it's said anemones bloomed after his sacrifice. The "look" in the "look now" line is "mina." Since it's not in kanji, it can mean "look," "all/everyone," or in Christian contexts, "the name of the Lord." Saint Veronica (though she shares her name with a flower) gave Jesus her veil to wipe his face as he carried the cross, then got it back with his face imprinted on it. Finally: Three days, three years, what's the difference?
So yeah, the guy is likely to be symbolic of Jesus. (Qualia sequel, am I right?)
We can tell he isn't literally Jesus, though, because ("merry") Christmas wasn't celebrated until 360 or so years later, and Miku probably wouldn't be wearing a cross.

It's been three years since Persona Alice...
Rudolph rang the bell, Alice was blind, and as they warmed their frozen hands, they held each other's. A couple in a town, since perhaps the beginning of time.
Alice is still "blind," but "follows [Rudolph's] footsteps" and knows his hand - the same hand that pulled her out of the water - well enough that it's not shadowy to her. The two of them are "irregular" not just because of the possibility that she retains the curse and can't look at him directly, but also because her vision is still damaged and they appear warped to her.
It's been three years since WORLD'S END UMBRELLA...
The girl continues to enjoy life on the umbrella and is able to see snow for the first time, but the guy has been working tirelessly to find a way to bring the world back to the way it was. He takes regular trips up and down the umbrella to visit the "little town," constantly being dyed black by the rain. Eventually, for Christmas, the girl convinces him to stay "at world's end" with her, and simply prays that others will attempt to climb the umbrella.
It's been three years since Lover Rangge...
Langge acknowledges that if Rangge had stayed conjoined to her and hadn't died, she would have never appreciated her as much as she now does. She also convinces herself Rangge must be in heaven. The anemones blooming signify Rangge's death due to the red bouquet she gave Langge and the heart they shared. She tries to "take her hand away" from Rangge and move on, but eventually decides she needs to rejoin her and commits suicide.
It's been three years since Dreameater on the Sand...
