Here's some Rin-Kiri (?) for you. (????) [Retweets fanart of Rin complaining about Kiritan stealing her songs]

I've never thought about Luka-Rin or Rin-Luka, but I'm interested in what it'd be like. :thinking face:

I get the impression that compared to BL, people are more lenient about reversible pairings in yuri, but I love Miku-Luka and Luka-Miku and Rin-Miku and Miku-Rin, hello. [It's generally established in Japanese fandom that the first person in the ship name is the seme/top.]

Huh?! Today's Luka-Miku day?! [Retweets kissing fish]

I compose totemo yabee [extremely nuts] music

Thinking about it rationally, the work of making a song from nothing is demonically difficult, so aren't I amazing for being able to successfully do it?????

Making songs is so hard I'm gonna cry.

queen of music :princess: :sparkles:

RT @scrubble39 [Retweeting an old tweet of OSTER's that lists "eras" of her music and the major songs in each:] It's crazy how she's the queen of music, isn't it?

The sci-fi-ness of getting sexually harrassed by an AI using words you taught it yourself is incredible.

[Jun: "OSTER, do you have hay fever? After work, make sure to exercise care by washing your female body at a sink."]
Workplace sexual harrassment.

I say it every year, but I wanna change something this year... I mean, I don't mean change something like I'm going to suddenly change my methods. I guess it's more like, I want to reach a moment where everything I've built up thus far holds new meaning...

People who similarly chose a path of following what they like give me courage too. Seeing people who chose the same life becoming happy makes me want to have hope too, so I end up rooting for them...

For now, I'll aim to complete a Kiritan song today...

As such, while it's a shameless request, I'll be able to do my best if you provide your support. (direct marketing)
Support OSTER project on Pixiv Fanbox!

I'm at a loss since the rate at which I produce content absolutely can't keep up with the speed of my ideas, or the speed of the world... I need to keep managing within it somehow. I can't do everything I wanna do, so I have to narrow it down, but what to prioritize...?

To increase the focus on being able to do things I like, I think it's super important to figure out how to monetize the things I have... What should I do... what do I...

Living following the things you like means putting up with ten things you don't like to be able to do one thing you can't help but love. That's how it goes.

Wanna become good at composing...

I'm sorry, food... I'm sorry... Forgive me, I'll be careful in the future...

After confirming that I forgot to refrigerate my food before my trip, my Tohoku trip has ended.

[Jun: ""Women" are... a food, pretty, and I love them, hop!"]
I don't think that's very nice.

Don't tell me, it was a trap to make me do a search for "inns turkish march"...?

The inn I'm staying at has amazing food and baths, but for some reason, the BGM during all of dinner last night was Turkish March, so I might've been tricked by a fox.

When I think about how there's this girl who'll sing the songs I made like that, it makes me so happy and joyous...

Listening to Kiritan's voice makes me go "I wanna make musiiic!"

On Vacation But I Wanna Finish This Song Soon Disease

February 27th, 2020

OSTER songs are super OSTER-like.

There's only one way to finish a song, and that's to make a song.

Dying! Dying! I'm gonna die!! aug! aug! Slash!! Slash dim!!! aug!!!!

I'm always questioning why people can be so tenacious about things they dislike... I already hardly have enough time in my life devoting it to the things I like, and when I want to find things I like, I look for them, and a life packed with things you like just seems more worthwhile... Though that in itself is just one set of values, of course.

I just don't think you should hurt or rain on the parades of people who like a thing, and if there's something you absolutely have to get out, I think you should talk about it at a pub or something. But I can't change other people, so I'm at least trying to live according to that campaign myself.

I don't particularly like the act of posting your "not for me"s online in a place everyone can see. (She posts, broadcasting her own "not for me." Lose a turn.)

February 26th, 2020

I'm a masochist, so I'm watching a beefsteak episode of 3-Minute Cooking on Hulu while putting up with an empty stomach.

What's going on with Kiritan's hairstyle??? Is it twintails???

I'm really just thinking that super self-centeredly though!!!!

I really feel the same sort of excitement as when I first met Miku-san, and I hope to be able to hype things up alongside everyone...

While I keep on going with lecture videos, I've got a lot on my plate between making songs, making videos, and Fanbox stuff, but I'll do my best! Yeah! And I'll cook properly for myself, too! :flex: :flex: :flex:

[After retweeting all four lecture videos so far:] My first lecture video was this month! I've gained like 7000 followers since then, so I'm massively grateful... :folded hands: :folded hands: :folded hands: And I got to meet Kiritan! Let's keep treasuring our encounters!!

I haven't been able to get much composing done this month, but I tweeted a lot, and got a lot of opportunities for people to notice me, and gained a ton of followers, so it's good!!!!!!!!!

February 25th, 2020

This was no time to be drawing Kiritan.

"Don't take my sooooongs!"
"I mean, say that all you want..."

She's too cute, I can't... #AIKiritan

The episode in which a class with the type of character who always puts "-cchi" at the end of his classmate's names gets a new transfer student, Yurie-chan.

Kiritan's voice and singing style are super cuuute... I could listen to her forever, so I wanna have her sing more songs...

Those who can't help but enjoy thinking about how to make use of a technology are a breed called "creators," and a lot of creators are thinking "This is interesting!" right now, so if you just don't dissuade them and leave them be, you'll get to see lots of interesting stuff in the future.

Regarding AI Kiritan, there will always be people standing at the ready when a new technology appears, but it was the same way with Miku too, y'know. I'd know. 'Cause I'm a Vocaloid old-timer!!

February 24th, 2020

The more concrete situations you include in lyrics, the more I think you get away from the parts that everyone can associate with, but I really like songs that can regardless of this have portrayals so realistic, it's like you can touch them...

I want to depict raw reality, but it's a little too raw as-is, so I think this song came about by projecting raw reality onto fantasy. As a trial run at that approach, this song is dead serious, got it??? A creepy old guy's always dead serious.

I mean, I get called a creepy old guy a lot because these are pervy lyrics, but when you're in love, it's completely natural to wanna have intimate contact with your partner, and wouldn't it be more unnatural to exclude that??? Anything goes in fantasy, but I think the world I want to depict is reality...

Ultimately, they don't teach you in school what love is, or how you should love each other, and between girls especially, you don't know what you're supposed to do, but smiling and saying to enjoy that together and search for something that suits the two of us, isn't Rin-chan cute????

I talk a ton about Whale Rider, but in the second verse, I really like the lyrics that are like "Nobody will teach us a model love or way of loving, so let's fumble around and explore, you and I"...

Whaddya mean tomorrow? It's today... My sense of time's messed up... [It's 5:23 AM.]

I really like the sense that Kiritan is cheerfully singing the :whale: lyrics while definitely not understanding them...

I finished it, so I'll throw it on Fanbox tomorrow! Kiritan Rider!

Champion. :trophy: #AIKiritan

Me 13 years ago: "Wait just a little for me to finish up, so I can say it to you: from my heart, I love you"
Me now: "Told with a playful bite, an "I love you" that can't be voiced"

If you think about it, a poem you wrote 13 years ago spreading far and wide and sticking around is an incredible situation, and there's some awkwardness to it, but I'm super super grateful that it's loved like that... That's what I think, so from my heart, I love you... (one-liner)

[Retweeting Miracle Paint lyrics:] They're nostalgic and embarrassing lyrics, but I think they're pretty! Miracle Paint!

I'm really happy about gaining more Fanbox supporters today... I'm thinking I'll make a full version of Whale Rider and toss it on there. :folded hands:

My songs are all doujinshi, so...

Luka-san feeling like her thinking about eye contact will be seen through and fidgeting for no reason, feeling like her feelings are written on her forehead and thus always hiding her heart with her bangs, is also super cute... The girls living in my songs are all too cute... I'm grateful to the world...

The Rin-chan in OSTER's songs is so cute I can't even... That Rin-chan who was like ""I'll take you back home," you told me, so I laughed "thank you," but really I was about to cry" is so cute I can't even...

Waiting for an AI Rin-chan to be developed...

Check out the original song tooooo!
[VOCALOID] Whale Rider [Kagamine Rin]

Considering a Kiritan song for my next CD...

I just made adjustments to the sheet music, and didn't touch the notes at all. Such tremendous ability...

Had her sing! She's super good and cute... :hearts: :hearts: :hearts: I was lazy and didn't write a key-change, lol #AIKiritan

Everyone kindly pointing out mistakes and things to reference regarding my lecture videos helps me learn too, so I'm truly grateful, and it makes me want to make more. Thank you.

Okay! Gonna mess with Kiritan today.

Sure enough, making theory videos is hard when you haven't properly studied theory. (obvious)

I'm so used to reading b5's that I completely overlooked this...! I guess you just have to specially remember b5, huh.

RT @phanta_stick Excuse me, can I ask a question? If C(#9) is a C chord + D, why is Cm7(b5) not a Cm7 chord + G, but instead changing the G in a Cm7 chord to Gb?

Getting likes like this so consistently, I can really feel the demand for lecture videos...

[Retweeting the chord reading lecture:] 3000 likes! :folded hands:

An artist who can make ice bloom... If you can make ice bloom, then make my heart bloom too...

You need all sorts of techniques to become a pro these days, and I feel like there's more and more people who never properly studied music at school but have to do it on the spot, so I'll be happy if I can be of some aid with the things I struggled with...

Rotating them around is seriously important... Even chords that look complicated at a glance becomes clear to see with some work. A lot of the time, there's generally a core C or Cm-shaped guy (triad??) with some stuff stuck onto it...

I have zero music knowledge, so whenever I had to make chord scores, I went "I don't understand my own songs' chords!" and did my best to learn them. But for me, the task of reverse-engineering the chords from the notes I put in is basically rotating them around until it takes the shape of C-E-G, then counting what number notes are stuck together!

[Retweeting the chord reading lecture:] Please watch the video I uploaded yesterday! :folded hands:

I like people who like themselves.

Isn't it significant when current fashion and the clothes that suit you match up? You can wear that sporty over-size stuff that's been popular since last year even if you're big, so I wanna wear it while it's popular...

And ultimately, whenever I see synths on sale, I buy synths again... Send me news on clothes sales too... A Native Instrument one-piece... A Spectrasonics spring coat... Oogh, my head...

It's hard to deal with a life where I can't enjoy outings due to my health... I wanna go on walks...

Lately, all I'm buying is synths, but I wanna buy cute clothes and go out looking cute sometimes... Dammit!

I uploaded the flat five one!
Casually Explaining Flat Fives With Minimal Music Theory #3

Most sus4s are like Eve asking you "Do you know how I'm feeling right now?", aren't they??? Cute, huh??

Eve's a cutie.

I gave it a quick mention in the video, but I wanna make a #9 explanation sooooon!! A chord where Eve's emotions are all mixed up between cheerful and gloomy... A chord that sounds fun yet sad, so you can't stop crying.

Let's look at the video and review the composite notes! It's the protag, best bud, gloomy Eve, and the note B.

Because of this calling B a major seventh thing, you get chords like CmM7 (C minor major seventh), where you're not sure if it's minor or major...

I learned it as "This isn't the main thing, but I digress," which is the exact opposite meaning...

Hey wait, I still haven't thrown the flat five video on YouTube... I'll do that later, so just wait.

I think this should let you read the majority of chords... Definitely refer to it if you're like "Chords make no sense to me!"... :folded hands:

I made a chord-reading lecture for people who don't really get music theory, by a people who doesn't really get music theory.
Previous videos here. #OSTERExplains #Dominowns

But I digress... I don't really get music theory, but this video is me doing my best to explain reading chords in 2 minutes.

First of all, what are chords? ↓It's these guys you see all the time.↓ (Maybe you could call them "chord blueprints"...) (CM7, F, Em7, Am7) You might be like "what are these incantations??", but I'll explain how to read them one element at a time...

First, musical scales. (Do = C, re = D, mi = E, fa = fa, so = G, la = A, ti = B) Each note corresponds to a letter in the alphabet like this! Like, this part is... ♫ super important... ♫ (Remember it please...)

The most basic chord is C. Let's introduce the nutty notes that make it up! C (protag), E (cheery girlfriend), G (best bud). As I've said many times, C and G are best buds. (Their sound is stable.) So then, who is E to C?!

Well, that would be the moody girlfriend (we'll call her Eve). C, D, Eve (cheery)... When Eve's in a good mood: C (read as C major, C E G); cheery. If you lower E by a half-tone... When Eve's in a bad mood: Cm (read as C minor, C Eb G); dark... sad...

Eve's mood determines the brightness of the chord. (C bright, Cm dark - they're opposites.) When you move the trio in parallel keeping the same distance, it makes chords based on other notes like this. (Cm up to Gm)

Next, let's explain all these numbers that are getting tacked on. (CM7(9) - this stuff.) Well, it's surprisingly simple. It's showing the distance from the protag (C). (B = M7 - a little troublesome.) For instance: A (6) + C (C E G) = C6 (C E G A) (easy!)

About the 7 which I called troublesome... For some reason, B is called a major seventh, and the rule is to put a capital M on it... And Bb is a regular seventh. (Ask mom and dad about the reason...) (Bb (7) + C (C E G) = C7 (C E G Bb)) Once you learn that, the other rules follow. (B (M7) + C (C E G) = CM7 (C E G B))

And even with sharps (#) and flats (b), it's the same thing... (D# (9#) + C (C E G) = C(#9) (C E G D#)) Once you know these rules, you can even read complicated chords!

Exercise: Derive the nutty notes that make this up! Cm7(b5) (Half-diminished!) Step 1: Start with the Cm part. C (protag), G (best bud), Eb (gloomy GF). Step 2: The 7 part. Add Bb (non-major 7). Step 3: The (b5) part. G (best bud) → Gb (dangerous relationship). That equals Cm7(b5)! (Done!) With that, you can read about 80% of them.

Lastly, slash chords, and some other special cases. So like, what's playing at the bottom can totally change the impression, right? That's slash chords, basically. Amazing how just changing the bass can form a song to an extent.

Special Case 1: dim ~Refer to last video~ Special Case 2: sus4 ~C F G ♫ Want to touch someday~ Special Case 3: aug ~Refer to first video~ (G#aug - sounds unnatural just jamming it in there...) (CM7(9)(#11)(13) Spicy!!)

Do (C, protag), mi (E, cheery girlfriend), so (G, best bud). As I've said many times, Do and So are best buds. (Their sound is stable.) So then, who is Mi to Do?!

Well, that would be the moody girlfriend (we'll call her Mii-chan). Do, re, Mii-chan (cheery)... When Mii-chan's in a good mood: C (read as C major, do mi so); cheery. If you lower mi by a half-tone... When Mii-chan's in a bad mood: Cm (read as C minor, do mi♭ so); dark... sad...

Mii-chan's mood determines the brightness of the chord.

It's showing the distance from the protag (do). (Ti = M7 - a little troublesome.) For instance: La (6) + C (do mi so) = C6 (do mi so la) (easy!)

About the 7 which I called troublesome... For some reason, ti is called a major seventh, and the rule is to put a capital M on it... And ti♭ is a regular seventh. (Ask mom and dad about the reason...) (Ti♭ (7) + C (do mi so) = C7 (do mi so ti♭)) Once you learn that, the other rules follow. (Ti (M7) + C (do mi so) = CM7 (do mi so ti))

And even with sharps (#) and flats (b), it's the same thing... (Re# (9#) + C (do mi so) = C(#9) (do mi so re#)) Once you know these rules, you can even read complicated chords!

Exercise: Derive the nutty notes that make this up! Cm7(b5) (Half-diminished!) Step 1: Start with the Cm part. Do (protag), so (best bud), mi♭ (gloomy GF). Step 2: The 7 part. Add ti♭ (non-major 7). Step 3: The (b5) part. So (best bud) → so♭ (dangerous relationship).

Managed to make it home alive, so I'll make a video.

For about six months now, because of my illness, going out feels like I'm making up my mind every time, but it just feels good outside...

Wanted to go check on the plum blossoms... (old-timer)

Procured a godly song, so I'm calling it okay for me to go on a walk.

I created a godly song...

I want someone to do the hard parts of digital music in my place, and I want someone to pay taxes in my place, and I want someone to live and die in my place.

Understanding less the more you learn is kinda like that one thing. The "I understand completely" curve.

The more I learn about the different kinds of people there are, the more I become a madwoman who doesn't understand people's feelings at all and goes "Were you injured?! Are you okay?! Does it hurt?! Does it feel good?! Are you sad?! Are you happy?! Is it painful?! Does it feel like you're living?! How do you feel?!"

Thinking of people's feelings is super hard. Because how people think about things differs. I think people good at considering others' feelings know a lot of different patterns for how people think, and can quickly judge which of that massive number of patterns applies to the person they're talking to now.

The conclusion of the Friendship sequel is already set, so I might write about it on Fanbox once I start making it...

I'm sure Rin-chan realizes herself that she's bluffing. But if she were unable to be with her anymore just because they can't have the same "like," she's afraid that would make the feeling of liking her a lie... I know all about Rin-chan's feelings.

My personal tragedy point in Friendship is how saying "my friend who I always loved" at the end sounds like saying goodbye... I love Friendship... When's the Friendship-specific event...?

There's been many people who've actually experienced a situation like the Friendship lyrics, but since everyone together had their heart deeply wounded, I can think of the song as a success... (emotional terrorist)

I've got so much I wanna do, time's living me behind... Hold up, a day is too short...

My ears hurt from wearing headphones too much.

As many times as I think about it, the thrashing legs are just from swimming. How wholesome...

Thrashing legs...

Want to be invincible.

Organizing a championship of "words that have a nostalgic sound but that doesn't mean replacement words exist."

There's a lot of words with kind of a nostalgic feel like "panty shot" and "image change," but it's not like there exist any replacements for them, so you just gotta use them, huh?

Could it be "panty shot" is a dead word???

Grade-schooler: "I saw her panties!"
High-schooler: "What a brat, getting stimulated by a panty shot, lol"
Me in my 30's: "Huh? Aren't panty shots the most arousing thing?"

Representing eros with combinations of wholesome words is my eternal homework.

[Jun: "When I got nude, I tripped and my womanly body became slim, hop!"]
Really pushing that womanly body you got.

Being forgotten is scary, isn't it...

Don't know if my head hurts because I cried too much, or because I drank whiskey.

I've become an emotionally unstable woman who watches Remember Me at 3 AM and cries hard enough to get a headache.

I'm currently making a song not to make you smile, but to make you sob.

[Toro: "When thighs touch, I hear your heart pounds, and it feels nice and warm."]
Yeah.

[Toro: "When I'm cleaning, sometimes I find lost shorts and stuff, meow."]
Like behind the washing machine.

[Jun: "I heard Meiko-san is actually a getting nude celebrity! What a shocker!"]
Tearing off a tight dress and getting nude?

[Jun: "When I'm talking to you, OSTER, it makes me wanna talk lots about greetings, hop! I hear lots of kids these days don't say "I love you"! That's no good..."]
It gets harder to say the older you get, after all.

I want a new body.

A game where you endure hell to talk to Jun...

This last batch of Toro Puzzle added stages feels like it's making the orchard even more hellish than usual...

I want to be able to make songs like OSTER-san too... (????)

An OSTER-feel to surpass OSTER.

AAAA's songs are too good...

Boobs.

I feel like making a big band song every time I hear one, but that's an entrance to arrangement hell...

Let's all dream about girls together... Hey... Come to OSTER's music...

I'm tired of hearing "girls are scary" or "they're not that pretty." In my world, girls are cute, strong, and beautiful... What's wrong with girls dreaming about girls...

I'll continue to put my girl feelings out into the world on perverse music. :Tokyo Tower:

It's true!!!!! Girls being girls!!! I love it... (confession)

RT @hiyako_rakugaki I love women fully affirming themselves as women. I've realized recently that girls being girls is sacred.

RT @hiyako_rakugaki OSTER project has cute yuri songs, and cool lady songs, and wonderful girl songs, and it's all the best and greatest. Unforgettable content.

There was a time I had a bit of a complex over not going to music college to properly study theory, but that didn't mean I went back to college or studied theory independently. So in the end, I'm just a lazybones, but it's a good thing to carry on as a lazybones.

I bet if I'd studied theory it wouldn't have taken 20 years to get there, but it worked alright for me!!!!!!!

The more theoretically advanced things you do, the more you lose catchiness, but learning those techniques is like acquiring more paints you can use. You gain options for what colors you can use, and your songs become more brilliant. And there's more fun in putting it together...

I'm sure in its own way, though, that's easy to listen to as pop.

Back when I made Miracle Paint, I still didn't know anything, so it's not that jazzy and the notes are too clean, so people even told me it sounded classical. Years later, I've finally learned how to build energy...

I clear it out by feel, then learn what kind of name it has after the fact.

People probably can't tell, but my definition of "my sound" is constantly changing for me, and I feel it getting more and more wild lately... I dunno how to describe it, though, since I dunno theory...

Just wait... I'll make a godly song...

Just being sick saps my motivation, but if I blame that on my health, I won't be able to do anything...

Gonna make a song today! Doin' it, doin' it, doin' it.

February 19th, 2020

The word "like" can be a sly word that leaves an escape by not being clear about what kind of "like" it is... Yes, very good...

I think the pinnacle of yuri is the unique distance between two girls, and Friendship is a song about just that; as friends, saying they like each other, walking arm in arm, sharing shampoo and accessories is something only girls can do. It's because there's that distance that trouble arises.

I believe in the religion of stanning specific pairings the stronger the reasoning for why the two of them had to be that two.

Friendship uses half-diminisheds from every angle, so maybe this suffices as a half-diminished lecture video.

Listen to my tragic yuri song...
[VOCALOID] Friendship [Kagamine Rin]

I had a conference with a friend about making a Friendship sequel, so I'm sure I can make it...

Make a Friendship sequel already.

Bloom Into You is Yuu-chan's story, and it's Touko-chan's story, and it's Sayaka-chan's story, and in this story that has just begun, I want to know more about your world, now I grasp onto those fingers I've touched by mere chance -

I've had countless viewings of Bloom Into You with friends, but I'm always shouting, and become a spoiling hectopascal... But it's impossible to watch that anime without making a peep...

I love the track meet episode of Bloom Into You so much, I wanna enroll at Toomi Higashi High School... Or I want to get hired as a mat at the gym... Someone, turn me into a mat...

Nwaaaaah, I didn't make it in tiiiiime!! Touko-chaaaaan, happy birthday and rise!!!!! #BloomIntoYou #ToukoNanamiBirthday2020 #Dominowns

You should watch Madoka Magica up to the part where Madoka becomes a Puella Magi.

Watch Bloom Into You... At least up to the scene where Yuu-chan tells Touko-chan as she's nodding off "it's your transfer"...

[Continuing from "When I think about kindness":] To get into this more, in my case, it might not be the act of being kind to someone itself, but the person being happy I was kind to them that satisfies me... Maybe that's also why I sometimes want to make people laugh with jokes... The other person being satisfied feels like a recognition of my own existence.

Though wait, shouldn't I be using realizations like this for lyrics? What am I saying them here for? It's like a huge oil spill over here...

I think interacting with others can let you understand those structures for the first time, and figure out what you want to do. Though I'm sure it depends on the person...

Virtues and models can quietly strangle people who don't fit into those values. That's why you need the self-confidence to go "Shaddup! Who cares!" and reject them, and that takes someone else recognizing your values, so it's a relief when people do.

It's okay to live for yourself, and it's your life, so I think it's the most natural to live that way, in fact. Since there's an atmosphere of "having someone more important to you than yourself" being a virtue, it can make you think that it's wrong to think of yourself first.

When I think about kindness, I worry about whether kindness with the motive of feeling satisfied yourself is really kindness, but then I think that if kindness were strictly categorized like that, it would remove all kindness from the world, so I always stop thinking about it there.

I love people who work hard toward their dreams. I'm sure it's probably because affirming their way of life is also affirming my own way of life. I want to always do my best, and I want to dream.

My pasta is very delicious. :spaghetti:

Today I used the kitchen at my friend's house to make us food, and had super cute matching earrings made for me, which filled up my youthfulness gauge a ton, so I'm sure I can make another youthful song!! Life!! :smiling: :smiling: :smiling: :smiling: :smiling:

It got me thinking it might not be a bad idea to make a basic chord-reading video or something to make it so more people can enjoy these.

It's fun seeing people who are like "This video's easy to understand!" and others who are like "Don't have a clue!" and others who are like "Don't get it, but it's fun to watch!"

Don't they not seem to sell falsies much lately??? They might be in vogue, but it's worrying... Should I just go to Don Quixote...?

Lately, thick falsies have stopped fitting me, which I guess must be age... No, no, no, thinking that just makes you older, so stop it!! Dumbass!!

[Retweeting flat five lecture] I made a video yesterday! Look, look, look!

February 17th, 2020

Tomorrow, I'm cutting my hair and going to see a friend! (memorandum)

I only just passed 30,000 followers recently, and now I've already passed 35,000! Thanks for watching a ton! :folded hands: If you're fond of my lecture videos, definitely listen to my music too!

[Photo of a seemingly home-printed form, imitating the one from Valentine's:
"Question 8: Have you ever felt a tightening pain in your chest when hearing a half-diminished in a tragic ballad?"]

I can go "Alright, let's use some dims!" and use a lot of them consciously and intentionally, but what happens a ton is I'll want to make a lurking melody in the chords with like a half-tone progression or something and in the middle of it go "Ah, that was a dim!", does anyone understand this???

I feel like there's probably some cool special move you can do with dims like the aug pre-landing, though. :thinking face:

Really sorry for saying feel-based things all the time, but seriously, any more about the rules of when to use them would be really hard...

"How stylishly you can design instability" is the epitome of the music called Shibuya-kei. That's why I like stability-breaking chords.

I'm adding in more and more text, so pause if you want to read it carefully, sorry...

I made a flat five and diminished lecture for people who don't really get music theory, by a people who doesn't really get music theory.

I don't really get music theory, but I like the chords called flat fives, so this video is me doing my best to explain them. (Watch at a distance in a well-lit room)

First off, what feels good when listening to music? C (stable) → F (tense) → G (tense) → C (stable)... The existence of tension makes the transfer to stability feel pleasant!!

To liken it to a story, it's interesting to have incidents and then see how they land at a conclusion. Sorta...

C (Intro: Last night,) → F (Event: When I bit into a hamburger,) → G (Event: Meat juices came flooding out,) → C (End: And it was delicious)

"I don't wanna tell commonplace stories you can predict like that!!" Have you never had such a worry? That's why originality in making interesting incidents (how you add tension) and reaching interesting conclusions (how you stabilize) leads to uniqueness in your music!!

C (Intro: Last night,) → F (Event: When I bit into a hamburger,) → Bb9 (Unexpected Event: Oil came gushing out,) → AbM9 (Unexpected End: And I moved to Dubai)

Once again, let's talk about best buds (perfect fifths). C and G: The interval between these notes is guaranteed to be stable. Shifting things upward (sharp) to purposefully add instability is an aug. (C E G# = Caug) Shifting things downward (flat) to purposefully add instability is a flat five (b5). (C E Gb = C(b5))

To name a song that makes good use of this strange, fantasy-like sound... ♪ Saria's Song (The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time) (The one that instantly came to mind. There's also the start of Holst's "Jupiter," say...?)

(barrage of flat-fives) As usual, even just doing the "voom, voom" parallel movement is a simple method that produces tricky sounds. (Destructive...) I realized they even show up in blues-y songs like this!!!! (Gb(b5)/Ab) (The key changed...)

Now, here enters a relative of Mr. b5! (I guess relative is the word...)

C E Gb... If you take the third note E down a half-tone, it's a diminished. (C Eb Gb = Cdim) It seems some prefer to use a dim that includes the seventh note (A)... (C Eb Gb A = Cdim7 ≈ Cdim) (Why is A the seventh note? Go ask your mom or dad...) SUSPENSE!!

By the way, like augs, the notes in dims are at equal intervals (distance 3). They're called something like... cyclic chords? (♪ When you use a Boo in Mario Kart 64) This unsettling sound can be very handy for producing original tension.

C (Intro: Last night,) → F (Event: When I bit into a hamburger,) → G (Event: Meat juices came flooding out,) → C (End: And it was delicious) If we take that story from the start, and instead of G, we make just the right hand a dim chord...

C (Intro: Last night,) → F (Event: When I bit into a hamburger,) → Fdim/G (Sorta Surprising Event: It was cheese! Guess that works?!) → C (End: And it was delicious) It got kind of a tragic, dramatic sound!

Finally, with knowledge of dims, let's progress some chords based on this story... (Ebdim: Casually-addable incident) (Dm7b5/G: Try this one next time) (C#dim: An incident appears!!) (Gm7/Bb (?): So emotional I became emo...) (???: What's goin' on with the chords here??? Ab6/Bb (?) Feels like a 6 for a second) (Bbdim/A: You again, huh?)

If my concept of augs' instability is floatiness, I guess my concept of dims' instability is uneasiness? (Dbsus4: The briefest sus4) Tara-ta-ta-talalala... ♫ (CM9: Sorry if I got any chords wrong as usual...)

9 already... I want to upload the video by 11... Is it impossible...?

Always poor and slovenly, so wearing the same style foreeeeever until it's threadbare, but wanting new stuff, but not knowing what to buy... There's probably a lot of women like that. There's one right here.

I'll do my best to upload a flat fives lecture video today.

Huh? In that case, just make a song like that? Are you a genius or what...

But what I am allowed is making Rin-chan and Miku-chan sing. That's what I've been given. I have to do my best with it.

At least when I'm reborn, I want to be Miku-chan, and hug Rin-chan, and catch the smell of shampoo from her hair, and whisper "that smells nice" into her ear, and for Rin-chan to smile sheepishly but happily, but that day will never come. Get to work.

If I had the chance to become Miku-chan or Rin-chan for a day, I'd want to be Rin-chan, but I'd also desire to be Miku-chan and hug Rin-chan, so I'd be at a total loss, but I'll never get that chance in my whole life.

It's not "I am Rin-chan." Rin-chan is me.

I don't like this big-bodied Rin-chan.

[Retweeting the OSTER is Rin Theory] I am Rin-chan.

Maybe that's just the way my basic sense of tempo is... When I try to comfort someone, it ends up sounding like seduction. Messed up. I'm so messed up, man.

When I try to write a lyric like "Trust your friends, and let's overcome it together," I reeeeeally agonize over it, but if it's a lyric like "Become mine tonight, señorita," I could think of endless variations with different word usage. I'm so messed up.

I also wanna do slash chords.

Lecture videos I'm currently thinking of making:
- Suspenseful diminisheds
- Half-diminished, leader of the tragic crew
- Light and darkness in one! Is it friend or foe? The Sharp Ninth!
- What is "OSTER style," ultimately?
- Using a blues scale to smoke fresh frog meat with sakura chips

Though of course, my longest-time fans call me by my real name. (audience laughs warmly)

I really like how much of a long-time-fan sense I get from people who still call me Fuwacina. Recent followers might not know, but it's short for Fuwafuwa Cinnamon. I'm still Fuwacina in credits as a video creator. Out of an impure motive to make it feel like there's more names in the credits.

I think nothing in life is useless, and hardship means bearing with it until you can find meaning in what can be thought of as useless. At the very least, that's the rule I have in my life. You're not suffering to the end, you're suffering through.

If people who live their lives the same way attract each other, if I do my best to be wonderful, then the harder I try, the more wonderful the people I'll meet in the future will be. That's an amazing thing.

And I'm also happy if it's not just me, but the other person feels a similar satisfaction.

The longer you live for and the more things you try, the more events happen in the process and the more feelings you get, and sometimes you're able to form an understanding with someone because you've had those experiences. Those moments make me happy, as validation for trying my best all this time.

That's seriously how much of a music theory know-nothing I am, so please be kind.

20 years after starting to make music, I've finally properly learned which one's the tonic, which one's the subdominant, and which one's the dominant. I mean, I think I learned it. Feels like I might've learned it.

I'm absolutely unsuited for teaching people how to make music. My unsuitability starts right around the point where I think "the more active the bass is, the better."

People who get music theory are cool, but I don't get what they're saying at all, but they're cool... Maybe it's kinda like how I can't make out any of the lyrics when I listen to western music, but it still sounds cool...

I'm an adolescent, so of course I have.

It makes me super happy that since I'm OSTER-san, I'm the only person in the world who can make the murmur twins OSTER remix... (?)

With the creation of this remix, my 2020 is already over...

The sequence of words "yu_tokiwa.djw & OSTER project" has intense "old guy getting in the way of yuri" energy... But this is reality... It's real...

To provide a simple explanation of what "murmur twins OSTER Remix" is to me, it's like when the climactic scene of the last episode of a two-cour anime plays the first cour's opening theme. It's basically like that.

If I hadn't encountered murmur twins, I definitely wouldn't be making the sort of songs I do now, and I might never have met wac-san and Tokiwa-san... It was a turning point in my life.

[Mega Announcement] On the #beatmania #IIDX 20th anniversary tribute album!!!
Unbelievably!!!
Amazingly!!!!
I was allowed to provide a remix of "murmur twins"!!! :crying: :crying: :crying: :crying: :prayer hands: :prayer hands:
It's a song that's extremely important to me far beyond rhythm games, but in my very life! And a remix I put my whole soul into! Please listen to it!!!!!

It's Valentine's, yet I'm being examined all day at the hospital.

The MRI made a noise that sounds like a Massive synth.

If I don't shave off some of my life to make art, I lose my reason for living and can't live anymore... That's gotta be a bug, right?

And yet if it were forbidden to write lyrics with unfounded knowledge, I'd need to be bitten by a wolf in the forest at night, and jump in front of a train in front of my boyfriend, and have a forbidden tryst with a furry fox lady then do a double suicide... I'd never have enough lives for it all...

I underestimated painful injections back when I made Love Ward... There exist injections in this world that are hard indeed to bear... I shouldn't have written such a lyric acting like a know-it-all on painful injections...

I'll even put up with painful injections / Mascara runs down my complexion

Hate 'em... Hate injections...

As last, it's Valentine's! :hearts face: And of course, the thing to do on this special day is...

Bloom Into You is actually a super good title, really, just read this here. (handing you the full volume set)

Bloom... Into You... (trailer voiceover)

RT @nakataniii There's a fair number of people who've told me they saw the title [of Bloom Into You, literally "Soon, I Become You"] and thought it was possession-based horror.

Time will pass and you'll get older no matter what you do, so it's a waste not to give your all for yourself, surely.

There'll always be people who make fun of those who are trying their best yet not succeeding, but any time and energy you'd spend on worrying about them should go toward continuing to try your best. Once you start using your limited time to better yourself instead of mock others, you steadily distance yourself from those people.

You're beautiful.

People who can produce beautiful things are beautiful.

[Jun: "Got it, hop. I'll completely forget about "the money I borrowed the other day," bun."]
It's fine as long as you're quick to say it.

Playing around and daring to teach her things I want to make her forget, so I can then have her forget them.

How to live.

February 11th, 2020

Said something cool, so I'm gonna soak in the bath.

And I've come to learn that asking yourself what you think and how you want to live, then expressing that with words, is actually a pretty difficult thing despite also being considered ordinary. There are surprisingly many sides of you that you don't notice, and that's why it's important to involve yourself with others. You can't see your own back.

Of course there have been a ton of times it's been hard having chosen this profession, but having a friend tell me "Fuwacina, you express your feelings and beliefs so clearly and accurately with words, I can feel really comfortable being with you" made me super happy, and go like "Making lyrics for so long had meaning!!!!"

Fast-talking Domino otaku.

And just look at these selection functions. In addition to filtering just the highest or the lowest note in chords, you can also filter based on velocity or gate value. Furthermore, the batch edit function lets you not only do plus or minus to velocity and the like, but apply formulas with things like multiplication and percentages.

First off, just look at some of these config options. You can adjust the hitbox of where putting your mouse cursor over a note will change into gate adjustment. It's such an amazing feature. And I mean, I've never seen the word "hitbox" in a settings menu before. Is this a fighting game...?

Nobody knows the amazingness of Domino... Domino's incredible, it's freeware, and yet it's worlds more flexible as a sequencer than what's included with DAWs, and high-fidelity, and absurdly customizable... For mouse users, Domino is the strongest! Put Domino in Cubase, please...

Since you're doing it all with a mouse, who're you calling "Piano Girl"? From today forth, you are Rat Woman.

Here's the piano that was horribly tedious in Piano Girl.

I wonder what a ranking of "songs that made me feel like I would go nuts making them" would look like... The full-orchestra Demon Fire and Violet Rose would definitely be up there... And Piano Girl and Piano Forte also made me feel nuts... Songs with a bouncy rhythm like Piano Girl are especially tedious.

I'm nostalgic for my instrumental album...

On the other hand, when it comes to my body, my chronic disease worsened and I stayed in bed... Why...

Going to the park on a holiday is really nice. When you get a glimpse of how people spend their spare time, it gives me warm feelings about how there are as many routines, lifestyles, and thoughts as there are people.

People who can't help but put down others are probably antsy from a lack of self-confidence, so if it comes to that, take another look at yourself first. Re-evaluating your life is important.

Even going viral with 60,000 likes on Toro Puzzle, I didn't gain any followers, but when my chord explanation video went viral, I gained 5000 followers... Indeed, people want beneficial information... And despite that thought, I've mainly been sending out worthless info. I went out late last night to buy umekobucha from the drug store.

I'm great for slowly coming to do things I was too afraid to do before...

In life, you can do anything anytime, and it's always you who sets your own limits. And so I got my ears pierced after turning 30.

The hardest part of the music-making process is starting to make music.

OSTER knew not of music theory. But she was more attuned to augs than the average person.

[Retweeting her 2020 goals list: "Video with my own art, Pixiv Fanbox, live Whale Rider, Friendship sequel, Rin album, OSTER-san's CD Vol. 3, fix ailing body"] Still only accomplished one of these...

I know I didn't understand one bit when people told me "this sound functions like so...", so I'd like to dedicate myself to explanations that are more casually like "Y'should use this at times like this! Not like I got any clue!" (define "explanations")

If it's just individual chords, you can Google those, so I think it'd be good to make videos with a unique understanding of the chords' personality, and practical examples of simple ways to use them by feel.

From now on, I plan to archive my don't-know-theory theory lectures here. Thanks in advance.

Making a song is simple, but making a good song is horribly difficult.

I think my music's chordwork is a selling point, so I'm glad to share it with people who care about the nitty-gritty like this...

For nearly ten years I've been worrying "if I'm going to make music, would it be better to have a MIDI keyboard...?" and not actually buying one, but I make a lot of music.

The second one has a wrong chord, so I'll put it up after fixing that... I can't just say I actually lack a MIDI keyboard to check the chords with...

I uploaded the impactful aug explanation video to YouTube. Thanks in advance.

Even now, I'm sure careful inspection probably uncovers a ton of incorrect notes from a theory perspective, but I've come to feel like "Shaduuup! Who caaares!! It's my world, my rules!!" and be good with it. In the end, beauty is in the ears of the beholder... Believe your ears...

Also, while I've always been someone who managed despite not studying theory, it's taken like 20 years for me to establish a bunch of what I'm capable of now, so those who want to mature faster might find it faster to study theory... haha... Though I've had a lot of songs that came to be what they are due to going by feel.

When I first learned augs, my desire to use them got ahead of me, becoming Too Much and appearing in awkward places, but I feel like recently I've finally learned how to work them in naturally. Learning new techniques makes you want to use them, but ideally, what you want to represent should take priority, and then you want to have a lot of options for what techniques to use toward that purpose.

I like Mitsukiyo-san's songs that feel like they'd play in the background of a video about using proper manners during a movie screening...

RT @mitsukiyo_5 I made a jazz song for 2 pianos. BPM 250

But I do get the feeling dims and half-dims get used a lot for bringing out tragic and subtle moods... Listening to them on their own, it feels like Tuesday Suspense Theatre, but when they're thrown into the mix, it feels like a conflict scene in a shoujo manga. (extremely feel-based)

In terms of pure musical rules, I know enough of the very basics to make such a video, but due to my utter lack of knowledge in composing theory, I have no clue about what to use how to make things sound beautiful... It's just like "well anyway, I did it like this, and it worked well, don't get why though"...

I see a lot of demand to make a dim lecture, but I personally have zero grasp on the rules of when to use dims... Using dims by feel...

I messed up one of the chords while hastily throwing the video together, so I'll fix it when I upload to YouTube... :woman bowing:
