That's probably sort of why I'm always competing against myself when I play games instead of other people...

I'm an inferior human, so I live fearful of exposing my inferiority.

Even when I can't think of ideas for composition, I can at least manage, but lyrics are truly impossible.

Even if you spend it like trash, time passes anyway.

I'm powerless...

It's just so sad how Kiki's Delivery Service ends with Jiji still not being able to talk, and it's sad how in Beauty and the Beast the beast turns into a prince at the end... I'm that kind of otaku.

"You know, I hate this pai" is something I say like 50 times whenever I play Mahjong. [joke on a line from Kiki's Delivery Service]

There's a suffering to parrying Tree Sentinel damageless that only those who attempt to parry Tree Sentinel damageless understand.

The day I bought my first From game, I tried hard to beat Tree Sentinel with starting stats but couldn't do it and leveled up to beat it, and after two months I've achieved vindication by doing it damageless with parries at starting stats... I am the Elden Lord. :crown:

It's the mark of a parry player that they do the thing unique to parry videos of not dealing the final blow, but continuing to maneuver around to make that last blow a parry.

Starting stats, unbuffed weapon, damageless Tree Sentinel parrying chapter:

Video later. #EldenRing #ParryInTheForgottenLands

Don't parry for the video guide, parry for the romance of it all.

Truly, what am I parrying for?

If I didn't parry Tree Sentinel, I could absolutely do it damageless, but because of parrying I can't, I'm gonna snap.

I can't help from tearing up whenever I watch the scene in Back to the Future where Doc cuts off his arm and grafts on a dragon head.

I thought Godrick's voice when he cuts off his arm was kinda super familiar, and it's probably that it sounds similar to Doc's dub voice in Back to the Future.

Mohg, Lord of Blood's battle song is super good, I wanna make it the theme song for when I have stomachaches.

Generally, "Marika shortcut" refers to a special route in Mario Kart track that shortens it, not the technique of abusing a Stake of Marika's activation radius to deathwarp places you normally can't go.

Magnamalo is the best in the world at making music.

Victory
["I finished a song."]

I'll defeat this song before defeating Tree Sentinel.

The real world is full of air resistance and friction...

I learned about the issues that arise when turning the world of mathematics into physical hardware.

Yesterday I went to a science museum and rolled a ball along a cycloid curve and played always-win golf reflecting a ball along a quadratic function and boarded Voyager and descended into the Great Red Spot, so I had a lot of fun.

The fried horse mackerel I had for dinner was really delicious, so I was in a good mood, but now my tummy hurts a lot, so it's zero-sum. Nothingness.

Isn't it wild that Monster Hunter's coming out in just two months??

Feels like I'm not gonna have good dreams after a night of failing to damageless parry.

Tree Sentinel's just an enemy that's there as soon as you exit out onto the field - in Mario terms, like the first Goomba - so it's just natural you'd be able to beat it damageless. (???)

I get the feeling Tree Sentinel would be a ton easier to do damageless if you used Golden Parry, but it's an opponent you encounter at the start and all, so my desire to make a video showing you can defeat it damageless even in starting conditions has entrenched me.

I reset when I take even a single hit anyway, so I wish it could just be one-hit-kill.

I tried for 2 hours, but it was no use, so another day...

Ended a damageless run with a stupid mistake and sobbed loudly.

I don't know a thing about Tree Sentinel...

It's brutal how this positioning doesn't count for a parry...

Tree Sentinel's so strong, it never ends...

I'll again keep up my work until you become adults, so carry out your half of the bargain.

To my teenage listeners who follow my music:
When you're older, please get famous and have me make a song.

Also, me being asked to write a song for an artist I listened to and aspired to as a kid is also a super amazing thing, what the heck.

A person who says they listened to my songs as a kid now being active and asking me to make a song for them makes me super happy, and I feel glad to have kept making music while that child became an adult. Keeping something up can make good things happen.

To all my fans:
Thank you.

Meltdown (OSTER project All-Out Arrangement!)

Thought I'd get a car wash and go home, but it rained a stupid amount, so it's all over.

People are free to decide if they want to look at spoilers or not, but no matter how much of a minority people who want to watch something unspoiled may become, I just want consideration for those people to not be lost...

Every time I listen to Kaze ni Naru, I'm struck with despair like "You can make a song this good without complicated chords...?"

When I hear an arrangement of Totoro that cuts out the chorus diminished, I break out in hives.

The diminished in Totoro's chorus is so emotional...

One song with chord progression I like is My Neighbor Totoro.

The knight who skewers any man meddling in yuri with a golden halberd, Eurygard.

It's sad how I'm always trying out super trendy games, yet playing them in a different way from the vast majority of people, so I'm not able to have a conversation with anyone.

Parrying Tree Sentinel is pretty strict based on position, so Golden Parry is really effective, and it's so cool to fight while swapping shields.

My head is full of parrying, but I make songs.

I managed to beat Red Wolf of Radagon with starting stats and progress the Thops event to get Thops's Barrier, but trying it out, the start time does feel slow... Storm Wall it is...

It's so sad how I wanna fight Loretta, Knight of the Haligtree with Carian Retaliation, but you can't get Carian Retaliation without beating Loretta, Knight of the Haligtree...

I want Carian Retalitation in my starting stats file as soon as possible, but for that I need to clear Caria Manor with starting stats, so I'm holding my head.

Toward the start of Parry in the Forgotten Lands, while I was saying "I use Carian Retaliation because it looks cool," I had no idea that parry-type Ashes of War had fixed behavior whether you use a small shield or a medium shield... (embarrassed)

As I thought, a 100 damage reduction medium shield and Carian Retaliation is justice.

Looking at this data has me feeling like "what meaning is there to using a buckler"...

["Parry Window Frame Data
Parry Type / Startup / Active / Recovery / Total (in frames, 60 FPS)
Buckler: 9, 10, 32, 50
Small Shield: 11, 10, 30, 50
Short Sword: 13, 8, 30, 40
Medium Shield/Curved Sword/Fist/Claw/Rapier: 13, 4, 34, 50
Golden Parry: 9, 12, 30, 50
Golden Parry (0 FP): 11, 10, 30, 50
Carian Retaliation: 9, 12, 30, 50
Carian Retaliation (0 FP): 13, 4, 34, 50
Storm Wall (with or without FP): 11, 10, 30, 50
Thops's Barrier (with or without FP): 13, 8, 30, 50
Startup: Frame parry window starts at
Active: Length of parry window in frames
Recovery: After parry window ends, number of recovery frames before you can move again
Total: Length from start of parry action to end in frames (consistently 50F in this game)"]

There was a time where I'd be like "this sound is too muddled, so let's not" and excluded it first thing, but now I have visions of it being usable so it arises as a candidate, so the decisions become harder and harder.

The better you get at making music, the more abundant options you have for selecting sounds, so making music gets super difficult, what the????

Isn't it emotional to dare to use a minor seventh where normally you'd expect a half-diminished?

I might say that people who can make songs without half-diminisheds are the experts.

This video showed up as a YouTube recommendation that was like "half-diminished chords that experts use!", and I made a smug face like "I AM an expert..."

I'm becoming an unknown lifeform who just watches media that realistically depicts humans' inner selves and goes "How knowledgeable you are of humans!"

People who can give their songs personality in ways besides chords are amazing.

Despite having been through over 30 Aprils, I just realized it only has 30 days and I'm dying.

The parry videos may look silly, but the strategy content is relatively serious.

I've fully passed being scared and arrived at a point where ultimately all I'm able to do is what I like, so I guess I'll do what I like.

If people are scared to start something new at their age, or worry about losing people who pay attention to them compared to their past activity, I want them to look at me. You just want people to watch you parry, right? That's right.

I've been a Vocalodi producer since probably the term Vocaloid producer didn't even exist yet, but I'm so grateful to still have a chance for a song to be listened to this much... Thank you, iroha-san and n!ka-san...

I've had surgery for my health issues, and have been working on treatment for years, so when I'm in bad condition and someone laughs "what are you, an old person?", it honestly hurts me a lot, but lately there haven't been very many people like that, which I really appreciate... Everyone's kind, I'm grateful.

It was Elden Ring that taught me how if you fear failure, growth is never going to happen.

Once, a math teacher told us "Even in pro baseball, someone with a 30% batting average is still a top batter. So don't fear failure," and I remember it making a deep impression on me.

But thinking about it now, it'd be no good if you got 30% on a math test, right?

Rather than a song that's neat and organized and doesn't stay in your memory, I prefer using almost excessive amounts of flavor so people will remember it, and toss in tons of incomprehensible seasonings.

I'll try hard tomorrow, so forgive me.

Parry in the Forgotten Lands is good.

RT @Star_Snowdust I've been watching Parry in the Forgotten Lands lately. The amusing part is how it's THE OSTER-sensei doing the fighting, and copying the song by ear, and making the video...

Uploaded three whole videos in a week.

The question is how far I should go without raising my level in the file I made for Parry in the Forgotten Lands.

Miracle Paint (PSB REMIX)

That time I contacted Nika-san on Twitter to draw the illustration for me, but it was April Fool's and my account was Magnamalo, so I ended up sending a business message as Magnamalo.

RT @iroha_sasaki @nika_niko_222 So this was the business message you received from Magnamalo. Thank you for the wonderful, beautifully-drawn illustration!!

I find I kinda like these sorts of chord progressions and phrases that slip away if you try to grab them, like they're liquid or slime, so I want to pursue that more. Of course, there's a catchiness at the root.

The work of reharmonization is endlessly fun, but the more carried away I get with it, the more like threading a needle it becomes to think of phrases that match up, but it's so pleasing when I'm finally able to do it cleanly, so I can't stop.
It's just like parrying.

Viewer: "This Meltdown arrangement is cool! I should check her YouTube channel too!"

The foundations of good parrying are food and sleep.

I parried too much today.

Starting to see a path to parrying Tree Sentinel damageless... I'm in deep.

My parry accuracy's really dropping, but I can't stop...

Hold on, even the music changes for Tree Sentinel's second form.

Tree Sentinel-sensei's parries are so unique they gave me a lot of trouble at first, but it's amazing how good it feels in a way no other enemy can offer.

Parrying Tree Sentinel-sensei is too much fun???????????

I even won properly dodging the tail attack I struggled so much with, so this is a true victory.

I thought about compromising on damageless again and again, but I'm glad i didn't give up... My hands are shaking...

Crucible Knight, starting stats, no weapon buffs, parry-only and damageless...
Done!!!!!!!!!!!!
Video to come.
#EldenRing #ParryInTheForgottenLands

Crucible Knight's so strong my soul's buckling.

Parrying Crucible-sensei is simple in the sense that it's relatively simple if you only parry attacks from medium range, not in the sense that it's simple to get up close and roll or jump to avoid unparryable attacks while consistently parrying the attacks you can parry without a single mistake...

And after Elemer was so kind, too...

It's parry time.
Likely damageless sort.
Suffering ahead.
Bear witness to Crucible.

Meltdown's posting has been scheduleddddd!!!
Parry time.

Howl lamenting that there's no point in living without big boobs, Sophie shouting that "you've never once had big boobs!" and leaving, Calcifer showing off big boobs, the Witch of the Waste excitedly asking "There's big boobs?!", and me writing this bizarre story at 4 AM.

I'm sure big-boobed people have their own big-boobed lives, but I want to be forgiven for dreaming of it. Forgive my foolish self.

Even when I tell big-boobed friends "I'm envious of your boobs," I've never once gotten a reaction like "My shoulders get sore/they just get in the way, so I'm envious of you. :horns hand sign:"

The doctor in the infirmary has big boobs. That kind of thing's important.

When projects announce in advance "This person will make a song!" at a point where the song isn't complete at all, doesn't it make you feel like "it's already been announced, so this song must be completed even if it costs my life"???

The type who's bad at games but wants to make up for it with effort.

Tried for another hour today and still no damageless. I'll keep at it.

There's already plenty of videos on parrying Crucible Knight, but I want to actually do it myself and summarize what I feel in my own words...

In games, the work of going from 10 to 90 is fun, but the work of going from 90 to 95 is super hard.

Even if your parry success rate is 95%, if you have to parry 20 times, damageless's impossible...

I honestly didn't think Crucible damageless would be this hard.

Give back my damageless run.

Parrying's hard.

I worked a bit on composition, so can I parry now?

I started with Samurai on a whim in my first file, so I started my new one as Samurai too, but found myself wanting a buckler after all and headed for Gostoc to buy one, but I couldn't beat Margit and got stuck. (because I also want to beat Margit with parries)

I was able to do the first half damageless a few times, but the second half is just no good, the tail moves too fast...

Crucible-sensei leaves so few openings that if you don't heal immediately after taking a hit you'll get hunted down, so even taunting them is a major risk.

It's sudden, but I'm uploading a video at 1 PM today. It's a new song.
Sorry it's not a parry video. Thanks in advance.

I feel like I'm close to doing Crucible with starting stats but I can't do it... The tail's tricky.

Crucible Knight's harder to parry than it looks.

Godly game. #ParryInTheForgottenLands

It seemed like I could've beaten Tree Sentinel with initial stats, but I took too many hits to be satisfied, so I died.

What kind of clown said it'd probably be easier to parry Tree Sentinel??? It's me.

It's stupid-hard, but I learned the method... I learned the method...

I understand Tree Sentinel completely. #ParryInTheForgottenLands

I've learned that when parrying Tree Sentinel, you have to do it from a close range.

The way iai slashes work is that it activates as long as you press the attack input during the timing window, and I thought Elden Ring's parries were a similar deal, but it seems they might be totally different... (even if you get the right timing, you can fail a bunch depending on your position)

Are people who beat Tree Sentinel with parries messed up in the head????

I've come to get a feel for parrying, so I challenged Tree Sentinel thinking it'd be easy, and I now I'm like, I can't parry this at all??????

Though you can't deathblow Tree Sentinel, I feel it might actually be simpler to just stop it with parries rather than time your rolls to avoid the the close combo attacks.

[Re: a clip from when she first started Elden Ring] I wasn't parryin' one bit two months ago...

At the very least I haven't found anyone else parrying with a pink nude bald character, so I'll do my best standing out that way. (?)

Finding your own forms of enjoyment and giving your all at it is the most fun thing, so you should do that.

I'm sure there are lots of people better than me uploading game videos too, but if you were like "would you not make music if I made better music than you?", I'd be like no way, so ultimately I just do it because I wanna...

You mustn't limit the things you do just because "there's already someone else doing it."

Between having to make a video for a new song, and having to make songs, and having to make Parry in the Forgotten Lands videos, and just plain wanting to enjoy parrying, I've really got my hands full.

Elden Ring parries have difficult timing, but Monster Hunter iais had difficult Special Sheath timing, so yeah, both are difficult.

Since starting the Parry in the Forgotten Lands series, I went back and watched my Margit videos, and found I was able to see all of the attack parry timings.

It's Saturday?!

April 15th, 2022

Whenever I feel like I'm kinda bad at music, of course it can be due to a lack of skill, but a lot of the time it's just a point in time where I lack the sense or energy to listen to music in general and be like "this is good," so I try not to let it get me too down.

Week of feeling like I'm bad at making music but encouraging myself saying I'm great for trying hard.

Saying you don't like it that people say they're bad when they're so good is kinda barking up the wrong tree, because you're seeing the world entirely differently...

When someone super good at art or games or something says they're bad, it doesn't mean they want to be told "that's not true," it means they see a world with plenty of room for them to become even better.

You think "Have I become an expert?", but there's an endless road ahead of you.

A diagram.

["- Gamers As I Imagined It
~30% beginners, ~40% intermediates, ~30% experts
- Gamers Actually
~10% beginners, ~8% intermediates, ~82% experts (with "gods" and "abnormals" sub-labels near the top)"]

My own parry videos are so satisfying I keep watching them over and over.

It's like my primary activity this year has been debugging for Google Translate.

[Re: "insects are too good"] This tweet reaching the insect community makes me really happy for some reason.

I used to go to Torikizoku [a restaurant, literally "Bird Noble"] because I wanted to be a noble, but now I want to be a bird.

Ass-Parry

Don't go making it into S&M all of a sudden.

If you had a flea's level of capability you wouldn't make Yukkuri game explanation videos, is your vector for capability out of whack????

It's really no good how I have a full helping of daydreams yet the capability of a flea to act on them, so I wanna do something about it... I want someone to kick my butt into gear.

Had a outrageous daydream about creation while in the bath.

Studying English again today.

[Supposed to mean "too good to be true"]

That's true.

RT @usarui1990 I thought OSTER-san made a Kirby-looking character for a joke, but she's actually doing it for real, which is amazing.

Fave... You're cute as ever, fave... Always be there smiling healthily, fave...

[Re: Cocoa truck song tweet] I actually went viral with music for once. (?)

I'm definitely gonna play Sekiro...

Please recommend me parrying games.

I hear Elden Ring's parries are severe compared to other From games, so I wonder what it's like there... I wanna play the others too...

In any game, as you play it more deeply, improvements go from an additive form to a subtractive one, which is rough, but that also means the pleasure when you manage to do it rises dramatically as well, so I can't stop...

Elemer's shield bash animation is fast so it's hard to dodge roll, but a medium shield can block it without letting any damage through, so it's safe and reliable.

Truly the pleasure of going damageless is unparalleled.

Beat him with an unbuffed weapon, parry-only, damageless for the first time... :crying:
Thank you, Professor Elemer... Video another day. #EldenRing #ParryInTheForgottenLands

Woke up immediately before going drinking again today...

April 14th, 2022

When it's a choice between parry, guard, or roll, it gets complicated and difficult, but guarding has the least lag from the button press, so I'm quick to use it...

It might suit my style more not to use a buckler, but a 100-damage-reduction medium shield so no damage goes through and I actually block when I block.

I practiced Morgott for 15 hours and wasn't able to do it cleanly, but this is where I'm at after 30 minutes on Elemer, so much simpler...

If you induce attacks that are easy to parry at close range, it can become dead simple, but I want to be able to properly respond when an irregular one comes too.

This boss is so fun?????

Elden Ring is my favorite rhythm game. #EldenRing #ParryInTheForgottenLands

I wanna do Elemer for the next Parry in the Forgotten Lands, so I have to clear Shaded Castle first. (the way to the boss is harder than the boss)

My tummy's rumbling a bunch, it's rough.

Talking so much about food and beer made me super hungry.

Talked a buuunch today! Good stuff. :green tea:

Started!

RT @kanatan0w0 [Re: the Cocoa truck song] And the one who sings this song:
#ActuallyThatWasMe

I thought "I'm so bad at art," but looking back on it, I've started to think maybe it has a good flavor to it.

:clock: Tonight at 9:00:
Tesro-sama will be speaking.
We'll discuss recent things, Marshmallows, and future song upload plans.
[Chat] April Chatterings (Reading Marshmallows Etc.) [Musical Vtuber Tesro & Roset]

I've drawn so little lately, I wanna draw crappy comics again.

I feel the mental need to schedule tonight's stream, but I can't get out of bed.

The Parry in the Forgotten Lands series will continue.

[Retweets Akirose announcing an Elden Ring playthrough] Everyone's playing Elden Ring... Elden Ring is good...

RT @mainichi_cocoa Whaaaaa!!! LOLOLOL
Thank you for making such an amazing song!!! :woman bowing:  Yeeaaaayyyyy!! Cocoa cocoa cocoa~ :music notes:

The woman herself...!! (?)
Glad to be of service. :folded hands:

A capable woman who comes to a cafe in her spare time.

I want to see Claire-san defeat Apex Zinogre with adrenaline in 2 minutes.

RT @SisterCleaire @fuwacina Maybe I should play Monster Hunter...

I saw a tweet like "If you're going to collab with OSTER, rather than work hard on compositon, it'd be better to work hard on Monster Hunter" and thought "that's true."

When you get to a week where the music you make seems boring, making music's tough.

Please give me Wabisuke bragging that he made Love Machine in the Actually That Was Me tag. [from Summer Wars, likely the source of the phrase]

This person may hallucinate Molcars too much.

RT @708_pad Feels like you'd make a song for a truck putting the pedal to the metal.
If you count Molcars, I have... :hamster:

Tr"a"ckmaker (person who makes music that plays from a truck)

I made the song that plays from this truck.
#ActuallyThatWasMe

Let's all make the greatest chat stream together...

I was thinking watching someone else's chat stream yesterday how chat streams are where the "mood" of that channel, including the viewers, is most evident.

Today I'll make music and chat at night, today I'll make music and chat at night...

Why does it sound like there's vibrato on it just from changing the pitch?

[Re: new Parry in the Forgotten Land video] Noticing my talent for Yukkuri singing.

Tesroset tonight!

Humans are fools.

I made a friend I felt like I could get along with really well and was having a great time, and I was like "I hope I don't wake up and you disappear," and they were like "It's not a dream LOL," but in the end it was a dream, you liar... I hate you, brain...

April 13th, 2022

:cherry blossom: Tonight, I'm doing an April chat stream. :microphone:
I'm accepting Marshmallows to read during the stream, so please toss them over all you like. #TesrosetTransmission

Radahn and Radagon's names are so similar, there was a time where I mistakenly thought "Rennala's like that, yet she's married to a big guy like Radahn...?"

{New Elden Ring Video]
:lollipop: Parry in the Forgotten Lands VS Commander Niall #EldenRing #TesrosetTransmission #ParryInTheForgottenLands

I want a fairy who will handle all the processing of chicken tail meat for me.

New Parry in the Forgotten Lands :shield: tonight.

Claire-san is so cute, and Cute-san is so Claire.......... (??)

Well, keeping up making music's real tough, so I'm pretty amazing. (intense self-praising)

I super respect everyone who works hard at streaming, and I want them all to receive campanellas of love.

[Links a video by Sakura Coromin about advice on getting popular as a Vtuber] I like Coromin-san a lot... I remember doing Vocaloid how the period where people would listen just because it was Vocaloid only lasted an instant.

±2 and ±3 key changes feel super natural.

The Kirby in the Forgotten Land song does something kinda interesting where it has a +2 key change before the first chorus, then a -2 key change to enter into the second chorus, it's interesting. (so you can't loop it with just a single chorus)

Of course, this is for use as Parry in the Forgotten Lands BGM. Isn't that obvious?

It sounds right enough, but if you compare it with the real thing, it's funny how different the arrangement is.

I cheated and peeked a little bit. (for the key change)

Made the rest of in-my-head Kirby in the Forgotten Land.

All the playing I've been doing since this month started has been so fun, and I wanna do it all over again next month, so I'm longing to meet people... I like people...

[Retweets original Kirby in Elden Ring video] Once again, Kirby's a godly game.

I don't know much about Kirby, but Waddle Dees are enemy characters, yes?

Even when doing Kirby streams, because of my thirst for battle, when I saved all the Waddle Dees I read it as "you defeated all the Waddle Dees."

As much as I sleep, I seem absentminded and sleepy and sluggish, so I'm worried.

Even if the cherry blossoms fall, our memories of enjoying watching them will always remain.

Nepheli Loux has a super cute name, but she's a strong lady who fights swinging an axe around.

Nep League: "Name 5 characters from Daffy Duck and Friends."
Nagura: "Real sorry 'bout this... Nepheli Loux."
[Reference to a segment on the quiz show Nep League where five people must, in order, come up with unique answers to a prompt before a time bomb goes off; thus, saying an obvious answer early on puts more pressure on the others. This was then inverted to a joke format where Nagura (who tends to go first) starts off apologizing as if he's saying an obvious one, yet says something incredibly obscure.]

Claire-san, who knows lots about the names of flowers and about sake, was so cute that all I remember is just saying nothing but "cute" toward the end, but it truly was a fun, dream-like time... :bell:

Feels like this week has let me reclaim months of missed human connections from staying inside and finally made me human again...

At this age, still having a friend I can make a ruckus with and also have serious conversations with and enjoy spending time with is something I'm super grateful for and it makes me feel like I'm gonna cry. (emotions)

RT @SisterCleaire :cherry blossom: :cherry blossom: :cherry blossom:

I went flower-viewing with OSTER project/Fuwacina-san. :cherry blossom: :dango:
There were lots of other flowers blooming besides the sakura, and it was pretty... :dog:

The flowers fully blooming, even if it took all day, were truly wonderful. :sparkle:

It was fun chatting, too...

:chun:

Drank, drank,
Until the sunrise
