The main cause of the high barrier to entry is all the special terminology... And it's rough how you need to learn how to read the tiles to know what anyone's talking about...
Mahjong had such a high barrier to entry until I learned it, so I want my casual explanation to be useful...

Going from the PC version back to Switch, on top of the framerate, the lag is so rough.

Being able to hunt Valstrax in 3 minutes may not mean anything to most people, but it has meaning to me.

Uno-san's super strong at Smash, yet great at skating too, it's amazing.

My favorite sake might be around 10%~20% alcohol content, or in Monster Hunter terms, around the same rank as Narga or Zinogre...

I thought I'd make an explainer video for mahjong beginners, but based on the size of the script it looks like it's going to be more than 10 minutes.
Whenever you're thinking "no one understands me," recall that you also don't understand anyone.
When asked what monsters I liked in Monster Hunter, I replied "I like this monster because it's fun reacting like this to this motion they do," and they were like "I meant their designs and stuff..."
...and I realized that I had become a "monster" unable to achieve understanding with others.

Mahjong's rules are so complex I can't remember them all, and the explanations of yaku are so full of special terminology I don't get them at all, so I'm like, wasn't it super hard for everyone to learn this stuff?

Yakuman feels like Teostra's Supernova or Magnamalo's Hellfire Divebomb, in that you normally defeat them before you see the move, so you need to win swiftly before you get hit with a yakuman.
Yakuman is such a powerful move.

Went on a talisman marathon, but it was to absolutely no avail.
I can lament after I've played another 2000 hours of Monster Hunter.
There's things I find myself nearly saying to people too, so I want to be careful, and I'm sure there are people who don't get happy having their efforts praised, so I can't say it unconditionally... so considering that, it's no more than a tweet about my feelings. I'm a puny creature with a power level of 5.
I haven't ever had this said to me or anything, but I think the thing that irritates me most might be when effort is boiled down to the word "genius"!!!! (declaration of intent)
Thanks to my slow growth, I can still enjoy feeling a sense of growth in a game I've played for 10 months.
I wonder just how much alchemy I did to amass the talismans I'm now using over on Switch...
I can't start doing time attacks until I get talismans, so I'm hunting monsters meanderingly to get talismans.
Since getting used to the PC version, playing Monster Hunter on Switch feels so choppy...

Feels like I've finally escaped rock bottom, health-wise.
Hunting itself became my goal for a long time, but starting the PC version over from the beginning, I've remembered the fun of hunting for a goal, but I'll never forgive Anjanath for being stingy with its gem.
Listening to cute music makes me want to make cute music, and yet I'm Magnamalo.
