Just thinking about how I beat Morgott with parries makes the world seem to sparkle.
I think that probably took about 15 hours... 15 hours of my Elden Ring was Morgott...
My parry precision wasn't all there, but I stayed calm and parried all the way to the end... My heart hurts...

Despite me playing an incredibly popular game, because I always play in an incredibly unpopular manner, it's hard to share my pain with others playing the game.
Morgott has a single move I just can't parry nor dodge no matter what, so if he rolls it, it's over...

Morgott's parries are painful in a way only those who have attempted Morgott's parries can understand...
There's lots of animations like this with similar preliminary movements but different parry timings, so it's really exhausting.

All-parry play takes a brutal amount of concentration, so it's super tiring.
So Elden Ring is a rhythm game...
Person who's not satisfied with her manuvering in the second phase and thus doesn't deal the final blow, so she just ends up dying.
It's so painful to do the first half almost perfect but get instantly killed by the second phase...
The slice-up animation also has two types... I'm just not able to react to the faster one, so it ends up being a prayer.

I went into my work room to check the earthquake, and I fretted thinking I left a sexy video open, but looking closer it was just a video on how to process chicken tail meat. Good.

The more I do this, the more I realize that animations I thought were the same are actually super similar yet distinct animations with different timings and fall deeper into despair, what is this game..........
It's so brutal thinking Morgott's doing a reliable side-swing animation after running around, but then having to roll the dice on two super-similar side-swing animations with different parry timings.
I'm trying out a small shield just to see, but worryingly, I'm not remotely getting the impression that it's any easier to parry with than a medium shield.

Having come this far with Morgott, I can't help but be stubborn, and won't proceed until I'm satisfied with my manuevering.

It's tough on your mind to get beat down by the same attacks from the same boss over and over, but the sense of achievement when countless tries lead to finding a way to break through feels so good I just keep on going.

Getting back to Monster Hunter with the new controller, and sure enough, I've picked up some weird habits.
If the Pro Controller were sturdier, the Switch would be a godly console, but the Switch is still a godly console no matter how busted my Pro Controller gets, so oh well...

Watching back videos I've recorded, I noticed for the first time that the difference in motions before beam and jump attacks has to do with if you're holding your weapon overhand or underhand... I wanna be able to clearly see the motions rather than just sort of feeling it out.

I'm a top-hunter raised in Kamura Village, so I won't be satisfied unless I can turn every enemy attack into an opportunity.
I have the beginner-specific wanna-parry-everything disease.

I get the impression that dodge rolling has a delay from your button input, but Bloodhound Step lets you dodge right before getting hit as long as you hit the input.
Anyone who can't beat Radahn at close range, you should put on Bloodhound Step.

I had a dream where a bunch of spots on my head were balding, and I was like "I go to the hospital so much, but now I have to go to Aderans too...? Ugh, fine...", but then I woke up and touched my hair and it was nice and full... Thank goodness...
The thing I use to parry the fire and make magic swords is a godly Ash of War called Carian Retaliation.
I do niche streams where I spend two hours dying dozens of times just trying to perfect my movement.
PC games are intensive after all... Wonder if I can do a little more about that.

Someone who hardly knows Kirby characters but knows Chef Kawasaki must be a resident of the internet.
I'm of the opinion brass and strings are generally best performed live, but when it comes to Kirby music, using digital instruments feels meaningful... That sound defines Kirby.

Elden Ring's dungeons have so many enemies it's impossible to fully explore them, yet there's all these route branches and hidden things, so I tend to stay in dungeons for eternity.

I feel like it's convincing yourself that you need to be needed to live that ruins people.
Rather than an impossible-to-prove line like "everyone's needed by someone," don't you find a truer line like "even if no one needed you, you still have the right to live" more captivating?
If you tried to beat Elden Ring as fast as possible, it'd be a ridiculously difficult game, but it's actually a nice game where if you gradually raise your stats and call NPCs and summon phantoms, even a beginner can defeat bosses. (at the moment)

Is there anyone whose first death in Elden Ring wasn't to Tree Sentinel or a solider, but to believing a message that said "Try jumping off" and jumping off a cliff?
This is my first time with a Soulslike [technically "you-die game," but they're sort of synonymous], but it's so up my alley I'm wondering why I never played one until now.

Looking it up, it seems fatal blows don't work on this person to begin with???
Skillfully dodging the right direction to not get too far from the enemy makes me be like "This is exactly like how longsword used to be..." and fires me up.
I wonder why it is that when it looks like I can do a fatal blow, even if I get close and mash tbe button, I can't do a fatal blow...
I've gotten up to the Tree Sentinel's pattern changing, but it's hospital time...
Dodging out of the way seems safer than trying to use invincibility frames.
The dodge timing in this game is so hard.

Elden Ring has you facing the same boss and dying over and over, but that's the same as what I've been doing in Monster Hunter time attacks.

Elden Ring has so many moments of "I totally dodged that, didn't I?" that it hurts...
I keep wanting to press R1 to run, and wanting to press X to dodge, and wanting to press triangle to attack, so it's difficult. :angry face:
After playing for two hours, I'm finally grasping how to fight.
I can't even beat the soldiers around, much less a boss????
Was I this much of a gamer all along...? I've fully remembered the part of myself that liked games...
It seems tough starting new games until you understand the systems.
I'll think of it as Monster Hunter without iai slashes and press on.
