Why is it when I play Open I get matches that have me like "I'll never play Splatoon again"?

It kinda feels like Series is better at matching me with people of the same level.
The matter of me not being able to win in Open moreso than Series.
Not winning doesn't hurt, being bad does...
I get such a strong impression that my training and improving in Splatoon gets reset each day, it hurts.

The way I'm working super hard on games lately might be motivated by wanting to be satisfied with my skill in general no matter what the game.
