While I was debilitated by my fever earlier today, I was just watching stuff like explainer videos for the theory of relativity.
One super shocking actually-an-abbreviation etymology for me was "jagaimo" [potato] being "Jagatara (Jakarta)" + "imo (shorter word for potato)."
I've been like "What's "shokupan" (plain bread) short for again? Was it shokutaku (dining table), or shushoku (staple food)?", looked it up, and forgotten like 10 times over. [It's the latter.]
Glad I could watch the golds being won in both table tennis and softball...
Man, athletes are just too cool...
