Personally, I think my first exposure to that sort of genre is The Matrix...
And I feel like most works portray confronting harsh reality as correct, but I always wonder every time if that's true.
I wonder what the origin is for the opposing factions of "doesn't mind if it's an illusion if everyone can live together happily" and "reveal the truth and confront it no matter how harsh the reality."
