[[ Shared Intro ]] The Hakurei Shrine. Reimu's residence at the furthest edge of Gensokyo, built on the boundary with the outside world, and also where Suika lives, for some reason. Today, it seems Marisa has come to play and kill some time. Marisa: Man, so bored... I came to play, but it's just zeh if there's nothin' to do. Suika: What'd ya rather do than drink sake, huh? Marisa: I dunno, I'd kinda like an incident right about now. Suika: What, don't not havin' food to go with the sake count?! Reimu: Hey, don't go saying that. You wouldn't want to start an incident that wouldn't have already happened. Marisa: You sure can say that, Reimu, but if an incident to resolve doesn't come along soon, won't you go flat broke? Again? Reimu: I'm not worried about money. Only donations. Suika: Well, what's about that vampire's huge donation? Reimu: You blew almost all of it on sake in the afterparty... ...Sigh. [Sakuya flies in] Sakuya: There you are! Suika: Whoa, the maid! Wazzup? [Sakuya moves up to Marisa] Sakuya: You... are truly incorrigible! Repeal it posthaste! Marisa: Wh... what's this?! Suika: Wut-wut? Reimu: What did you do now? Marisa: Hey, what are you going on about?! I seriously don't have a clue! [Remilia pops up] Remilia: Fool me once, but fool me twice... Reimu: Oh, Remilia. Something happen? Remilia: A door. To a labyrinth, just like the one you risked your life in the other day. In my mansion. And it's bigger. Reimu: ..... Suika: Reimu, you lookin' pale. Remilia: She appears to recall the hardship... Sakuya: So do away with it immediately. For I swear if you cause the Mistress any further trouble... Marisa: Hold it UP! It's not me! I did NOT do that! Reimu: Well, who else is there? Marisa: Huh?! You too?! Unbelievable! Doubting your best buddy! Reimu: Just hearing about "labyrinths" brings back... bad memories... Suika: And she DOES got a track record with 'em. Marisa: Still, I didn't do it this time! ...Hey, yeah! I mean... If I were the culprit, I'd have no business outside the labyrinth! Sakuya: Hm... so you say... Marisa: If I were the culprit again, I'd be moving Patchy's books deep into the labyrinth right about now! Remilia: Well, then who...? Reimu: Come to think of it, I did torch that cursed book, didn't I? Marisa: You tell 'em! Remilia: Not well enough, it would seem. For I believe it has somehow returned. Reimu: Huh...? Suika: Hm... there goes the one piece o' evidence that Marisa might ain't be the culprit. Marisa: No way! I seriously don't know anything about this! Sakuya: But did Lady Patchouli not dispose of the book after the fact? Remilia: That's what I told her to do. But I don't know how she did it, exactly. Marisa: Well, hey, if that's what you told her! Book's gone now, right? Sakuya: If the book is missing but the door is there, then that is truly worrying. Reimu: How so? Suika: If she don't remember doin' nothin'... that mean she might bein' controlled again...? Marisa: Buh?! Remilia: Oh, it's possible. Marisa: Is not! N... Not at all... But... I mean, NO! Sakuya: Well, this is going nowhere fast... Well, shall we return to the mansion to take stock and hear more from Lady Patchouli? Remilia: Yes, we shall. Come, everyone. Please. Reimu: I assume that includes me? Remilia: Well, we can't get started without you. Reimu: Start what...? Man, have I got some bad feelings about all this. Suika: Alright! How's about we go for some more tasty sake?! Marisa: It's not me, guys... really, couldn't be... To uncover the truth, the party headed for the Scarlet Devil Mansion, the scene of the crime. The Misty Lake lay along the way. Flying in the skies above, a lone fairy spotted Reimu and the rest. Cirno: Na-na-na-na-na-naaa... 'cause I aaam... a pretty fantabulous girl... uh? Cirno: Hey, it's... those guys I see near the lake sometimes! Huh, they're all bunched up today. Cirno: There's gotta be something going on! I'm not gonna let this slide! Patchouli: Here it is. Reimu: Whoa, so it is... Suika: Daaang, loads bigger than before. Reimu: So what DID happen to the book, after all? Patchouli: A number of things... ending in its disappearance. Sakuya: As I thought... Remilia: Hmph... Marisa: Don't look at me! I don't know jack, y'see?! Meiling: Ah, welcome, everyone. Long time no see. Suika: Ooh, yes... We forgots about you... Sakuya: I knew it... Remilia: Hmmm... Meiling: W-Whoa there! Why are you looking at me?! I was too ASLEEP to have done it! And hasn't Miss Marisa been coming by lately?! Marisa: Have not! Have I?! Meiling: I'm listening for an alibi! Marisa: I'M listening for an alibi! Reimu: I don't think we're going to get anything out of this if neither of you are listening to one another. Remilia: ...Well, so be it if we can't come to a consensus. The point is, we must do something. Sakuya: Ah, Mistress. Such an appropriate, realist judgement. Reimu: ...Do... what? Remilia: Do... something. Reimu: Huh? NO! No WAY! I STILL have nightmares about dolls getting me stuck in corners! Suika: The first step's 'dmittin' ya got a problem. Patchouli: Her psyche has been badly traumatized... Remilia: Come, now. There will be a reward. Reimu: That wasn't worth it last time, either. Remilia: Hm... well, then there's nothing to be done... Reimu: Right. Nothing I'll be doing. Well, anyway, there's a door here. Might as well open it. Remilia: Sakuya, prepare enough notes to fill the donation box, if you would. Sakuya: Understood, Mistress. [Sakuya leaves] Reimu: ...Notes? Remilia: Yes. Not musically-inclined. Money. Remilia: Oh, but does it not seem like a proper donation without a satisfying clinking sound? Reimu: ..... Patchouli: A donation box filled to the brim with notes... I'm not sure I'd even call that a mere "donation." Reimu: ...No, wait. Say WHAT? You just make it more, and you think I'll work for you? Is that it? Marisa: Yeah! Reimu isn't just gonna be paid off to work like that! Reimu: Er, yeah, basically... Marisa: Garner up all the money you want, Reimu won't work if she don't wanna! Reimu: Yeah... I've got standards, here. And no exceptions... uh, not yet... Marisa: See, Reimu will be working to prove my innocence! Reimu: EXCUSE me? No. Marisa: Why not?! Reimu: Because I still doubt you, Marisa. Suika: Regainin' lost trust's a toughie... Sucks for ya. Meiling: That one hit close to home! Marisa: A... Are you saying... I was that bad...?! Patchouli: You're "that bad" in general. Sakuya: Mistress, the notes are in order... Or will they not be necessary? Remilia: Hm, who knows... I believe she said "might as well open this door," but that's about it... Reimu: Well... well, yeah, but I was just saying it's an eyesore, is all. Remilia: I see... Well, if that's all you'll say, then I would have to take on this labyrinth myself... Sakuya: No, that's...! If the Mistress can't do it, then no one can! [Cirno pops up in the background] Cirno: Heh heh heh... You look troubled! Reimu: Hey, now... No need to be so pessimistic, huh? There must be some way or another... Cirno: I SAID you look troubled! Wonder if I could be any help? Remilia: Yes... We could pretend we never saw this door... and hold a great party with all this money. Cirno: ME! Reimu: Alright, alright, I'll go! You'll be happy if I go, right?! Meiling: Got 'er! Suika: Ooh, I like ya like that, Reimu! Reimu: What, are you trying to console me? [Cirno jumps out into the foreground] Cirno: HEY! Don't IGNORE ME! Remilia: ...What? This fairy... Meiling: Hey Mistress, that's the one who flies around the lake... was a doll of her last time... Remilia: Ah yes, I remember that... the blistering idiot... Reimu: Cirno... what do you want? Cirno: Heh heh... So my name roars throughout the land! If there's something troubling you, I'll be glad to impart my sageyness! Cirno: Wait, IDIOT?! You callin' ME that?! Remilia: That was some delay... Sakuya: Sluggish. Her head works at a snail's pace. Cirno: G-GEEZ! I am NOT a moron, people! Cirno: I dunno much about labyrinths, but I'm sure it'll be a walk in the park with my help! Reimu: ...So anyway, does the labyrinth work the same way as before? Patchouli: More or less... from what I've seen. But... well, it seems bigger now. Sakuya: We'll think on the way. For now, we must go. Remilia: Right. Reimu: We have to resolve this... Marisa: Right! And prove my innocence! Reimu: ..... Marisa: Huh...? W-What's that look...? Reimu: It's my still-doubting look. Marisa: But it WASN'T ME! Sakuya: Well, you always could have forgotten making it... Marisa: Nuh-uh! That's... well, uh, possibly... huh? Remilia: I apologize, but would you stay behind? Marisa: Huh? Me?! Patchouli: I don't believe we've ascertained that you're not under the book's control... Marisa: False accusations, all of them! Meiling: Huh, you're overly emotional. Won't you be alright if you can dispel those accusations? Marisa: Y... Yeah, I guess... Reimu: Well, I don't see any point in going in a huge group. Cirno: Right! It takes priority for adorable, brilliant fairies like me to go! Reimu: But will Marisa be the only one we leave here? Marisa: Uh... there's the girl with sake for blood too, y'know... Suika: Whoyyy... 'ic. Reimu: How is she smashed already...? Sakuya: Yes, I think we'd better leave her. Sake stench and all. Remilia: Agreed. Reimu: So, these will be our members... Patchouli: You go open up the door. I won't go ahead just yet. Reimu: Huh? Patchouli: Remmy and I have preparations to make. We'll catch up. Patchouli: Sakuya, you go with them. Sakuya: Understood. So, let us go. Sakuya: Ho! Reimu: Whew... [Reimu and Sakuya leave] ... Meiling: Off I go! [Meiling leaves] Cirno: Yeah, me too...! Remilia: Preparations? Patchouli: Could you... come with me for a second? [Remilia and Patchouli leave] Cirno: ..... Cirno: I said ME TOO!! Marisa: Ah, great... I'm left with a drunkard and a moron... pfft. Marisa: ...Wonder if there's any way I could prove my innocence. Cirno: I'm NOT a moron! And you should prove THAT! Suika: Woy... And so some went to challenge the new door, and the rest were left behind. What mysteries will this new labyrinth in the mansion hold? [[ Easy Mode (Marisa) Intro ]] Marisa: Hrm, I wonder what's the deal here... Marisa: I'm gettin' pretty peeved about everybody suspecting me. There must be a way to prove my innocence... Cirno: I'm NOT a moron! Marisa: Yeah, so I've heard... from you. Well, if you're so not-stupid, tell me how I can prove my innocence! Cirno: Hoohoo! That's cake! Cirno: Elementary, really! Just catch the real culprit! Marisa: Mm-hm... but how? Cirno: You figure that one out yourself. Marisa: (Ugh, well she's useless... Gotta do everything myself...) Suika: Whooop... Marisa: What's your deal? If you're feeling sick, get some sleep. Suika: I'mma still... still fight...! Marisa: Oho? Suika: ...Glug-glub. Marisa: Whoa there, don't drink sake like THAT! That just looks unsafe. Suika: Point is, the for-realsies culprit... hic... 'sinside the labyrinth, right? Marisa: Sure, but... thing is, how am I gonna find them before Reimu and the rest do? Suika: ..... Marisa: ...Hey? HEY, don't fall ASLEEP on me! Cirno: Well, I'll search around for clues! [Cirno runs off] Marisa: Wait, what?! Th... you're not gonna find anything just LOOKING! Marisa: Argh, she's gone. What a lot I've got... Think I might be a tad better off alone. Marisa: ...Hm? [Koakuma backs into view] Koakuma: ..... Marisa: Yo! Koakuma: AAAAAGH! Marisa: W-Whoa! Didn't mean to startle you! Koakuma: Ah? Oh, Miss Marisa, why are you here? Weren't you going with the Mistress and the rest...? Marisa: No, uh... well, I thought I was until they did. But just Reimu was enough, so... yeah. Ahaha... ha. Suika: They ditched 'er. Marisa: Shut it, you! Suika: Oy, you there... I dunno who's you are, but couldja get me some water...? Koakuma: Oh? Er, yes, I'll be just a moment. [Koakuma leaves] Marisa: Koakuma's the librarian for the library here. Patchy's little slave, y'know. Suika: ...Woy. Marisa: She better get back soon... [Koakuma returns] Koakuma: Sorry for the wait. Your water. Suika: Ahhh... sorry... Marisa: By the way, what were you loitering about for? Koakuma: Oh? Oh, I was looking for the Mistress and the rest. Marisa: Well, they've already gone into the labyrinth. Koakuma: So it seems... Something somewhat worrying has happened. Marisa: Eh? What? Koakuma: Well, er, it's nothing huge. I could likely handle it myself, honestly. Koakuma: I was just thinking I'd tell the Mistress or Lady Patchouli about it, so... Marisa: Hmph... [Cirno comes in] Cirno: FOUND IT!! Marisa: You're back... So what kind of let-down of a clue did you find? Cirno: Hmph! Let-down?! I think not! This is one AWESOME clue! Just as you should come to expect from me! Cirno: Prepare yourself! Dan-na-na-NAAAAAN! Marisa: Why are you making such a big deal...? Cirno: BEHOLD! I have discovered... ANOTHER labyrinth door! Marisa: WHAT?! Really?! Cirno: Really really! Just come with me! Koakuma: Um, er... Suika: Alrighty, guess we'll go looksie. Marisa: Oh, you back with us? Soon to get smashed again, though... Cirno: Let's go! Yaaay! Koakuma: Oh, wait, please! Marisa: ...There really is one... but, uh... Why is it outside? Cirno: What, should I know the answer to that? But it's suspcious, no doubt there! Marisa: It's just like the one in the mansion... But it looks like it leads into the forest, huh? Suika: Ain't it sorta small? Cirno: So?! Behold my amazingness! Marisa: Well, you've done it. This seems to be a labyrinth, too. Better get going right away! Koakuma: Er, that door is... Marisa: Eh? It's what? Koakuma: Er... it's the worrying thing I mentioned earlier. I wanted to inform the Mistress about this door, but... Marisa: But she went into the labyrinth before you could, huh? Koakuma: Yes... So, I thought I might be able to deal with it on my own... Marisa: No need! Just leave it to me! Koakuma: No, I shouldn't put such a burden on a guest... Marisa: Ah, it's fine! 'Cause who knows! Maybe we'll find the true culprit inside, eh? Marisa: Alright! So you come with me! Koakuma: Ah...? Marisa: The more the merrier for labyrinth-storming, right? Suika: Yeah, I think this is one o' them cases when "three beds are better than Juan"... Cirno: You fool! That's "threes are loud"! Marisa: Uh, you're both stupid. Koakuma: That's "three's a crowd," and in this case it would be "three heads are better than one"... Suika: And we've gots FOUR! Cirno: ...one, two... WHAT?! But you kept saying three! Suika: Anyway, how 'bout we open this here door? Marisa: Right, let's get in there already. ???: ...Rustle... Marisa: What? Something inside? Koakuma: Ah?! Cirno: Must be the culprit! Show your ugly mug! [Rumia pops out] Rumia: Wah?! Y-You frightened me... Suika: Whazzis? Marisa: I believe she's... Cirno: Rumia?! Rumia: ...Cirno? What are you up to? Suika: You buds? Marisa: Darkness youkai, right? Should be friends with Cirno, isn't that so? Cirno: Yeah! Dark youkai, best friend! So what are YOU up to? Marisa: No way this could be our culprit... Rumia: I was just walking along when I saw something strange, so uh, I just figured I'd investigate? Cirno: You were just standing in there? Rumia: Yeah. So what about you all? What were you doing? Marisa: We came to storm through the labyrinth past this door. Rumia: Is that sooo! Marisa: Yeah, you should come too! Youkai, lil' demons... more diversity in our ranks! Suika: Diversity's importants! Cirno: Yeah, you come with! We'll find the culprit together! Rumia: I'm not sure I follow, but... If you say so, Cirno! Marisa: Well, good enough for me! Koakuma: Er, I feel I should note I have a duty as the mansion's caretaker... Marisa: Weren't you fixing to go into the labyrinth earlier? Koakuma: Um... well, all right. I shall go with you, then... Though I'm not sure how much use I could be... Marisa: Sweet, at last I've got an honest-to-goodness ally. Okay, let's go! All set?! Cirno: Hooooo! Rumia: Hoh! [Marisa, Cirno, and Rumia leave] Suika: You's a disaster. Koakuma: Aha... m-my regards. [[ Normal Mode (Reimu) Intro ]] Sakuya: Well, I expect a good effort once again. Reimu: Huh... I'm feeling like I made the wrong choice already. Meiling: There, now. If you pulled it off last time, this should be a breeze! Reimu: In theory... Meiling: But for serious, if it's not Miss Marisa's fault, then whose is it? Sakuya: ..... Meiling: Miss Sakuya? Sakuya: Huh? Uh... what? Meiling: I was asking who you thought it was... Sakuya: Are you truly so willing to dismiss Marisa as the culprit? Meiling: N-No way! Don't get me wrong! But anyway, what's up? Are you worried about something? Sakuya: The Mistress and Lady Patchouli seem delayed... I wonder what "preparations" they're making... Remilia: So... preparations? Patchouli: I lied. I need to talk to you a little... Remilia: So I thought... about what? Patchouli: The labyrinth-making book, er... Remilia: Yes? I thought I told you to dispose of it. Patchouli: And of course I agreed to, but... I couldn't. The book had done nothing wrong... I could never destroy a book by my own hand! Remilia: Well, you probably should have mentioned that to me... Patchouli: So instead, I ended up sealing it and locking it away where no one would find it, but... Remilia: But it was stolen. And now someone's been manipulated by the book's magic once more? Patchouli: Not quite. I sealed it so the magic could never escape. Patchouli: And without the key, there's no possible way to open it. On top of that, I hid that key in a place only I know. Remilia: So, the key? Patchouli: Stolen... Remilia: ...So what does it mean? Patchouli: This time, it isn't just a human outsider like Marisa stealing something. Remilia: But there was stealing involved... Patchouli: ...The culprit knew every detail about my sealing of the book and hiding of the key. And that couldn't be anyone outside of the mansion. Remilia: The culprit is within...? Do you know who? Patchouli: No... do you, Remmy? Remilia: ...Well, I've nothing to say on that. For now, I suppose we can only head forth, yes? Patchouli: Yes... For now, Remmy, keep that to yourself. Remilia: Sakuya and the rest are waiting. Let's hurry back. Remilia: Sorry to keep you. Well, shall we wa... er, support Reimu in her breaking through the labyrinth? Reimu: I know you were about to say "watch"... Patchouli: My analysis reveals that the traps are somewhat different from last time. I shall explain them at the appropriate times. Sakuya: But the basics are the same as before. Well, do your best. Reimu: Sheesh... I don't know who the culprit is, but I'm gonna want to tear them apart by the end of this! Meiling: Truly, who could it be? Patchouli and Remilia: ..... [Aya pops up] Aya: Whew! An internalized crime... Now this smells like a big story! Reimu: Wuh?! Remilia: What? Who? Reimu: Aya?! Why are you jumping in all of a sudden?! Aya: Why does a reporter do ANYTHING? If there's a story, I'm there! Patchouli: Hm, you weren't here last time. Aya: Ooh, check! But it didn't seem like that big of a deal, so I just didn't feel it was worth it. Reimu: Those hardships I had to deal with... were no... big... deal...? Aya: But I got wind that this time's gonna be a much bigger story! Sakuya: ..."An internalized crime"? What did you mean? Aya: Well, I've heard it going around... that the culprit is somebody who lives in the mansion! Patchouli: We... hid that for a reason... Remilia: Well, there pretty much goes that. Sakuya: Ah, Mistress...! I can't believe you were burdered with that anxiety...! You could have told me, you know! Remilia: That would do more harm than good. I don't want everyone in the mansion suspecting each other. Sakuya: Ah, how kind of you... Reimu: An insider, huh... Meiling: Whoa! Don't look at me, please! Patchouli: Well, that's all I know. And even if we knew the culprit, it wouldn't change that we need to proceed. Reimu: No matter what, there's no changing what I gotta do... sigh. Remilia: Something like that, yes. Well, shall we go? Reimu: Aya, too? Huge groups again... Aya: Nope. There's another event in the mansion I've gotta chase down! Remilia: Hm? Sakuya: Another event? Aya: Yep! I'm sniffing another event happening here right now! Meiling: What is it? Patchouli: I don't understand... An occurrance in addition to this door's appearance? Aya: I'mma go check on that right now. My scoop sense is tingling! Aya: Ah, but of course, if THIS story gets anywhere, Aya Shameimaru will be back to snag the update! Aya: 'Scuse me, gotta GOOOOO! Remilia: She... left fast. Sakuya: And she shall be back again. Patchouli: Perhaps we'll ask her what else is going on then... Remilia: For now, we shall proceed! Sakuya: Well, let us do our best. Reimu: Alright, gotta get going! [[ Tutorial 1-1 ]] ~ About the Rules of the Game ~ To beat stages in this game, collect all the "Pt." and "P" items scattered about to open the exit door, then enter the door. (There are stages with no Pt. or P items.) ~ About Retrying ~ When you get stuck and want to restart, the Retry button will return you to the start. The Retry button can be changed in the configuration program. ~ About Solution Replays ~ After beating a stage, pressing the Retry button at the start of the stage will show the "Model Solution." In the tutorial stages, the Model Solutions can be seen from the beginning. [[ Tutorial 1-2 ]] ~ About Koakuma ~ The player isn't hurt when she touches Koakuma, and she can't attack or move. If hit by a shot from a P item, Koakuma will turn into a mushroom (or for Reimu, a Yin-Yang Ball) which can be moved or pushed into water, where she'll float. ~ About Shots ~ If hit by a P item shot, most enemies will temporarily turn to mushrooms. Shooting a mushroomized enemy again will blow them off-screen. Enemies blown off-screen will respawn in their initial position after a fixed period of time. [[ Tutorial 1-3 ]] ~ About Rumia ~ Rumia runs around the stage harmlessly, and if the player touches her, she won't be hurt. But she will cause Rumia to swoon. Once down, she can't be moved or turned into a mushroom, so you must be wary of what she blocks. Think carefully about where you want her to faint. [[ Tutorial 1-4 ]] ~ About Cirno ~ Like Rumia, Cirno runs around the stage. If she aligns with the player horizontally, she'll charge at her until she hits something. After charging, if the player is above Cirno, she'll go up, and if below, she'll go down. Also, touching her will make you fail the level. [[ Tutorial 1-5 ]] ~ About Meiling ~ Meiling in her natural state is sleeping, unmoving, and harmless to touch. When all the stage's "Pt." and "P" items have been collected, she wakes up and chases the player. (If there are none, she does this from the start.) Once Meiling is awake, touching her will fail the level. [[ Tutorial 1-6 ]] ~ About Patchouli ~ Patchouli is normally just reading, and like Meiling, will not move and is harmless. Once all the stage's "Pt." and "P" items have been collected, she prepares to attack. However, unlike Meiling, attacking Patchouli stays still and will not herself hurt the player. If the player comes into her line of sight in attacking mode, even if only by half a tile, she lets off a Fire Sign at 2x speed. (Fire is discussed in the TIPS.) [[ Tutorial 1-7 ]] ~ About Remilia ~ Remilia doesn't move, but the instant she sees the player horizontally or vertically, as long as there's nothing obstructing her view, she'll hurl a spear. Once thrown, it cannot be dodged. To get around this, you need to find ways to obstruct her view beforehand. Enemies can often be useful for this. [[ Tutorial 1-8 ]] ~ About Sakuya ~ Sakuya is like Remilia - she'll throw knives if the player aligns with her horizontally or vertically and there's nothing in her path. Once thrown, they cannot be dodged. Unlike Remilia, Sakuya is always moving left and right or up and down, so make sure to exercise caution. Sakuya will not turn into a mushroom if shot. By the way, note that "Pt." and "P" items can also protect you from Remilia and Sakuya. [[ Tutorial 1-9 ]] ~ About Suika ~ Suika usually walks around at half speed. If she hits something, she'll turn to her right. If there's something to her right, she turns to her left instead. And if there are things in both directions, she'll reverse direction. Also, if she sees the player vertically, she'll charge in that direction at 1x speed. Touching her won't hurt, but Reimu [sic] will get pushed in the direction she charges. If Suika sees you to the side while not charging, she'll sit there and won't move. If you move away, she'll go back to moving. [[ Tutorial 1-10 ]] ~ About Emerald Blocks (henceforth E-Blocks) ~ The green blocks are called E-Blocks, and can be pushed around like mushrooms. [[ Tutorial 2-1 ]] ~ About Waterways ~ Water tiles are uncrossable by the player, enemies, and E-Blocks. However, Remilia and Sakuya can fire across it, and you can shoot across it. Also, mushrooms can float on water, flowing along with the current if there is one. If there's no current, it will sink. The player can ride on floating mushrooms and get back off of them. Only one mushroom can float at a time, so if you need a second one, blow the other one out of the water with a shot. Also, if you push a mushroom into the water when Remilia or Sakuya is there, for a split second, you can move and escape their gaze. [[ Tutorial 2-2 ]] ~ About Lava ~ Lava is uncrossable by the player, enemies, and E-Blocks, but long-range enemy attacks can cross it. Unlike water, mushrooms can't float in it. [[ Tutorial 2-3 ]] ~ About Flowerbeds ~ The player can walk over flowerbeds, but enemies can't. However, long-range enemy attacks can, so be careful. [[ Tutorial 2-4 ]] ~ About Sand ~ Sand tiles bring the player's speed to half. The speed of enemies is not affected by sand. [[ Tutorial 2-5 ]] ~ About Icy Floors ~ Once Reimu steps onto an icy floor, she continues sliding in the same direction and can't stop until she reaches the end of the ice. Mushrooms and E-Blocks work the same way, but enemies aren't affected by ice. [[ Tutorial 2-6 ]] ~ About One-Way Passages ~ Tiles with an arrow on them can't be entered from the way the arrow is pointing. However, you can step onto it from any other direction. Also, mushrooms, E-Blocks, and enemies are not limited by the restrictions of arrow tiles. [[ Tutorial 2-7 ]] ~ About Items ~ In certain stages, getting a set number of Pt. or P items will activate an item. Though there are four kinds, one of them doesn't appear in Easy, so this stage will only introduce the other three. These three are "Water/Lava Bridge," "One-Way Passage 90-Degree Rotater," and "Rock-Smashing Hammer." These items are activated when the number of Pt. and P items listed beside the item is achieved. Also, bridges over lava will crumble after a short time. [[ Tutorial 2-8 ]] ~ About Ladders ~ Some stages feature ladders. The main difference from bridges is that they'll crack after one crossing and break after the second. There are also cracks that start off cracked and can only be crossed once. However, enemies crossing ladders has no effect on them. By the way, stepping on halfway doesn't count, only stepping onto a bridge fully. [[ Tutorial 2-9 ]] ~ About Mini-Trigrams ~ On some stages, there are tiles called "Mini-Trigrams" (henceforth Trigrams). Unlike Scarlet Devil Labyrinth, they are now visible from the start. Usually, when enemies respawn, if their tile is blocked by something, they can't come back. However, if this is the case and there's a Trigram in the stage, they'll respawn there instead. Trigrams are numbered, and if an enemy can't respawn in their original position, they'll go to the "nearest-numbered" Trigram. If their original spawn point and all Trigrams are blocked, the enemy will not respawn. Also, just because a stage has Trigrams doesn't mean they're used. Sometimes they're included simply to mislead. Be wary. [[ Tutorial 2-10 ]] ~ Other Techniques ~ Here are a few techniques based on what you've learned so far. First, a Remilia or Sakuya's line of sight can be blocked with a E-Block pushed only halfway. The same can be done with enemies, whether they're turned into mushrooms or not. Try using Cirno in this stage. When Suika is pushing you, sand will not slow you down. It also leads to another interesting occurrence, so give it a try. [[ Tutorial 3-1 ]] ~ About Aya ~ Aya does not move, but if she spots the player in front of her with no obstacles in the way, she'll brew up a wind that sucks you in. Once sucked in, the player keeps their prior direction, but is drawn toward Aya. Touching Aya is not harmful. While being sucked in, you can move to step out of the wind, but not in the opposite direction of pull. The wind can be defended against by enemies or E-Blocks in Aya's line of sight. [[ Tutorial 3-2 ]] ~ About Daiyousei ~ Daiyousei did not appear in Scarlet Devil Labyrinth, but appears freely here. However, she has many qualities in common with Patchouli. First, she normally stands still and is harmless, then enters attack mode once all "Pt." and "P" items are collected, just like Patchouli. Unlike Patchouli, who will fire upon the player if they are even half a tile in front of her, Daiyousei will only fire if the player is fully on a tile in front of her. Additionally, her bullets travel at 1x speed, unlike Patchouli's Fire Sign. Like with Patchouli, it may be necessary to procure sufficient distance to dodge her shots. [[ Tutorial 3-3 ]] ~ About Flandre ~ Flandre furthers the brutal qualities of the previous game's ultimate enemy, Sakuya. Firstly, like Sakuya, she runs vertically or horizontally, and if she spots the player with no obstructions, she shoots an arrow. The arrow is a guaranteed loss. And in addition, Flandre can push E-Blocks or Yin-Yang Balls if they are in her way. Essentially, trapping her may demands special techniques. However, for once, these qualities may be of assistance. Though your worst enemy, do try to work with her if necessary to beat the stage. [[ Tutorial 3-4 ]] ~ About 1Ps and 3Ps ~ In the first game, P items were red and gave two shots. This one introduces purple Ps that give one shot and pink Ps that give three. All P items have a specific color and a number denoting how many shots they grant. [[ Tutorial 3-5 ]] ~ About Barricades ~ A number of new blocks have been added to Scarlet Devil Mega-Labyrinth. First, the barricade can be pushed like an E-Block. However, it will not block enemy long-range attacks. In this regard, it is mostly the same as a tree. However, there are some things only a barricade can accomplish. Try to figure out what these are. [[ Tutorial 3-6 ]] ~ About Weights ~ Weights are heavy, so the player pushes them at half speed. They impede long-range attacks. However, since they are heavy, they won't slide on icy floors. Additionally, Flandre will also push them at half speed. It may be advantageous for the player to move somewhere while Flandre is busy pushing a weight. [[ Tutorial 3-7 ]] ~ About Ice Floes ~ Ice floes may be have the most interesting qualities of any object in the game. First of all, as ice floes are made of ice, they will slide until they hit something after a single push. Naturally, fireballs won't melt it. Also, when it sinks in water or lava tiles, the tile turns into an icy floor or a normal tile, respectively. However, mysteriously, it will not sink in water or lava if positioned across two tiles. Stages with ice floes may demand some unique methodologies. [[ Tutorial 3-8 ]] ~ About Saws ~ In the first game, there were three types of items, but this one also features a saw item. Saws can, like hammers with rocks, cut down one of the trees in the stage. [[ Tutorial 3-9 ]] ~ Practical Technique 1 ~ These stages will introduce two difficult but indispensable techniques. First, you can avoid Remilia's gaze if you are only half a tile in her line of sight. By making use of this, stages such at this one that seem to lack supplies can be finished with economic usage of them. Essentially, if two Remilias are off by one row or column, you can dodge them with the half-step technique and only one E-Block. [[ Tutorial 3-10 ]] ~ Practical Technique 2 ~ In an earlier tutorial, you found that Cirno could be used as a shield to block Remilia's gaze, but the same can be done with Sakuya and Flandre. The timing is slightly difficult, but simply try to follow behind Sakuya, mimicking her movement, and you should be able to avoid Remilia. [[ First Barrier Down (Easy) ]] Marisa: Alright! That makes one greater barrier down! Cirno: Piece of cake! Bring 'em on! Rumia: I'm hungryyy... I can't eat dolls... Aren't there any humans around? Marisa: You better not start nibbling on me... Koakuma: Excuse me, but... if we're to heed the lesson of the previous labyrinth, it will only get harder from here. Cirno: Heed? What's that? Rumia: Is that just another way of saying "use your head"? Marisa: Sounds about right. Koakuma: Er, not quite... I thought you would know that, Miss Marisa. Marisa: It's alright, it's not like they need to remember it. It's not a word these guys are gonna be using again. Cirno: Well, I'm positive as all get out, so I think it's got a place in MY dictionary! [Aya comes in] Aya: Ho there! I smell new events brewing here! Cirno: What's your deal?! Rumia: Ooh, mealtime? Aya: Mealtime?! You know I'm not a human, right?! Marisa: Aya, eh...? So are you gonna report on the story of me restoring my reputation? Suika: You HAD a repyatation? Koakuma: It's less about restoring a reputation as it is slightly improving it. Cirno: Heheheh... Marisa: Sheesh, when even YOU'RE laughing at me, it really makes me pissed... Aya: Point is, I smelled new affairs here! But, this... is it another labyrinth? Marisa: Sure is. And we think the true culprit might just be in this one. Aya: Well, I heard elsewhere the culprit was somebody inside the mansion. Marisa: Wha? On the inside? Koakuma: One of us residents of the mansion, you say...? Cirno: Haven't we pressed most of those guys already? Marisa: Yeah, seems like it... Well, whatever, we'll know once we get through the labyrinth. Marisa: Hey, Aya, tell Reimu and her gang we're gonna find the culprit over here! Aya: Understood! Rumia: What culprit? Marisa: Oof, do I gotta re-explain it to you? Marisa: The one who made this labyrinth. We're looking for them. Suika: And people were suspectin' Marisa here of it. Rumia: So I seeeee... Marisa: Yeah? But if it's an internal dealie... Suika: It's gotta mean Marisa's gettin' falsely accused! Marisa: Dang, you're right! Hey, tell them I'll make them pay for their dumb accusations, too! Aya: Understood! Okay, see ya! [Aya leaves] Koakuma: It's good you were able to dispel those claims so quickly. Marisa: Sh-yeesh... And here I was thinking I'd have to go and catch the true culprit myself to prove my innocence... Marisa: Now I'm just feeling let down! Suika: Well, then we ain't got no choice but to keep goin'. Cirno: Leave it to me! We'll be triple-fine! Marisa: Well, don't you bring the funny. Koakuma: I feel like I've said it several times already, but I believe things will only get tougher. Be careful, everyone. Marisa: Heh, we'll be triple-fine. Off to the next! [[ Second Barrier Down (Easy) ]] Marisa: Barrier! Cirno: Two! Rumia: DOOOWN! Marisa/Cirno/Rumia: YAAAY! Koakuma: You're all so pumped up... You aren't tired at all? Marisa: We're keeping up morale! Cirno: It's no big deal! Marisa: Ahem, I believe it's you who's no big deal. Cirno: How RUDE! You woulda DIED without my brilliant advice! Marisa: Isn't it your advice that got us into this fine mess?! Suika: Thi's a stupid thing to fight over... Anyway, we done a fair bit, yeah? Marisa: Well, two down, and I'm getting used to this. I'm learning to read those dolls' movements. Rumia: I still don't really get how they move myself... Cirno: You stupidhead! It's just obvious! Marisa: What, you think you got some kind of sixth sense? Cirno: Oh, I've got a sixth sense for a lot of things! Rumia: Oh! So is it Cirno's fault when you have to keep retrying? Suika: Idiots're nuttin' but trouble... Cirno: Shaddup! We made it this far, didn't we?! Rumia: I just realized! Marisa: Realized what? Rumia: We should leave behind bits of food so we'll never get lost in the labyrinth! Marisa: What is this, a fairytale...? Er, and the labyrinth isn't exactly a regular maze, is it? Marisa: ...And I'd rather not think about what you're imagining when you say "bits of food." Koakuma: Yes, what we need is to carefully examine the layout and the dolls, then think about how we'll get to the door. Cirno: Pah! I'm not suited for any of that junk! Cirno: Everything rides on my next move... A capable girl makes her decisions on the spot! Suika: People call that recklessness... Marisa: Man, you can't even read two moves ahead. Think a little, will ya? Cirno: I always gotta be moving forward! Come on, let's get to the next one already! Rumia: Hoh! [Cirno and Rumia leave] Koakuma: Always on the move... they're certainly, uh, brave. Marisa: Eh, skimp on the small stuff, I guess... Marisa: ...But hey, sometimes you need some of that, don'tcha? You especially, tryin' to be ultra-reasonable all the time. Koakuma: D-Do I really...? Marisa: Still, gut-going on Cirno's level's... sort of a problem... Suika: Point is, stuff gotta balance. Too much on one thing, and you go topsy... tipsy? Koakuma: Is that like topsy-turvy? Marisa: Eh, something like that. Alright, next up! [[ Third Barrier Down (Easy) ]] Marisa: Yesss! Third one's done for! Cirno: Ain't even CLOSE to bein' a big deal! Not a lick of resistance! Marisa: Well, if you never even try to use your head... Cirno: How RUDE! Didn't you get stuck once 'cause you just ran in without thinking? And I told you to go the other way... Rumia: Didn't you keep leading her into the dolls? Cirno: T... That also happened sometimes! Suika: Sometimes...? Mo' like always. [Aya comes in] Aya: Hey, you guys look peppy. Got the third barrier already? Marisa: Yep! How're things over yonder? Aya: Oh, they're getting along. Marisa: You told them I'd make 'em pay for accusing me, right? What'd Reimu say? Aya: As you asked! Her reply: a scant "Sorry!" Rumia: Is that the most she can offer? Marisa: Hrgh... I'll really make her pay... Koakuma: Um... I couldn't help but wonder, but might the other labyrinth be more difficult than this one? Marisa: Huh, you think? Aya: Yeah, sorta seems that way. Marisa: Well, the other guys got experience, so that's their handicap! Suika: You MADE a labyrinth, shouldn't you be 'sperienced? Marisa: But I don't REMEMBER anything about it! All that magic book's fault... Marisa: If it weren't for that thing, I'd have never stolen Patchy's books... Koakuma: ...Yes, you would. Suika: Stealin's bad, mmkay. Marisa: Man, I was just borrowing! Cirno: Stealin' books ain't belittling of a lady! Marisa: ...Uh, "befitting." And what would you know about being a lady? Hey Koakuma, tell this brat what it takes to be a lady! Rumia: Yeah! Tell us! Koakuma: Ah? ...Err... well, um, you must be graceful... Marisa: Ooh, off to a bad start. Rumia: Oh, not even close! Cirno: Hrg...! Koakuma: You must carry dignity and elegance... Marisa: Oh, it keeps goin'. Cirno: Ack! Make it more like me! Rumia: Keep at it, Cirno! Marisa: Uh, you're keeping at the wrong thing... How are you supposed to change the definition of "lady" to fit you...? Aya: Well, seems you're all having fun. Marisa: You think? Aya: Your gang's got more breathing room for it, Marisa. Marisa: Yeah, it ain't so hard. Still, labyrinth-storming's got a great sense of accomplishment! Koakuma: So you mean to imply the Mistress's group doesn't have much time to play around? Aya: Yeah... They're not exactly happy-go-lucky. Koakuma: Oh, I see... Well, could you perhaps tell them that if we finish up quickly here, we'll come aid them? Aya: Easy as pie! Koakuma: Sorry about all the back-and-forth. I'm grateful you're here to let us know how the Mistress's group is doing. Aya: Oh, no prob! That's just what reporting is! Aya: But I'm glad to hear ya say it, babe! See ya! ]Aya leaves] Suika: ...Yeah, and ya gotta behave on messageboards. Thaz bein' a true lady. Rumia: Oh, is that being a lady...? Then I absolutely understand now! Cirno: Grr... I won't lose! Marisa: Lose to what...? Let's get moving, shall we? [[ Fourth Barrier Down (Easy) ]] Marisa: Yahoo! Fourth greater barrier down! Go go go! Rumia: Go go go! Cirno: You think I'm any more ladylike now?! Rumia: Nope. Koakuma: You're all so excited... What good friends you are. Suika: Yer shoutin's givin' me a headache... st'pid brats. Marisa: Hey, Koakuma! How many greater barriers left? Koakuma: Ah? Er, hm... From what I can tell, it may only be one. Cirno: Only one! And when we get that one, I'll be a true woman... Marisa: What's wrong with you people... When we get that one, we'll find the true culprit! Koakuma: Well, we can't be quite sure of that... I just have a feeling that the Mistress's group is rather closer to the culprit. Marisa: What, them? Why? Cirno: SPROING! It's 'cause they're all no-good accomplices to the culprit! Marisa: "Sproing"? What is that, the sound a faulty spring makes? Rumia: Shouldn't the culprit simply be somewhere deep in the labyrinth? Marisa: But we came into ours from outside, right? Though we're underground now... Koakuma: ...Ultimately, it may be that the two labyrinths both extend to someplace nearby. Marisa: Hmph... This is getting more and more baffling. What're you up to, culprit? Marisa: Well, whatever it is, they tried to incriminate me... And I won't let that stand! Suika: So why'd there be two, anyways? Cirno: SPROING! Marisa: Hey, stop breaking springs in your head over there! Cirno: Easy! There are two culprits! Cirno: One for the one in the mansion! And another to sneakily make the one outside! Rumia: Brilliant, Cirno! Marisa: Uh, I wouldn't say THAT. Marisa: But, could there be two...? Either way, I don't get their motives... Suika: Keep goin' and we'll get the real truth! Marisa: Hm? What is it, Koakuma? Koakuma: Er, nothing... Just glad to see you all as peppy as usual... Marisa: Well hey, we smashed four barriers and are up on the last! This is getting fun, eh? Cirno: I'm pumped! A good girl's always blazing! Suika: Yeppers... Real thick sake feels like it burns up yer stomach. Suika: Speakin' of which... Rumia: How mature...! Marisa: Unfortunately, making it too late for her... Koakuma: ...It's been wonderful going along with you all. I've enjoyed even the hard times. Koakuma: If only I were as positive as all of you, I... the Mistress... such an inexcusable act... Marisa: Huh? ...You know something? Koakuma: ...You see, I'm actually...! Marisa: Whoa, leave it 'til we're done here. Koakuma: Huh...? Marisa: I don't know what you know, but it'd be boring to wrap things up before we actually beat everything, yeah? Marisa: Just... don't take away our fun, okay? Koakuma: Your... fun... Marisa: You're trying hard at this too, right? Let's carry this out to the end. Marisa: The truth will become known after all mysteries have been solved! Marisa: If you're hiding anything from us, just let it out at the end. Marisa: You'll do that, right? Koakuma: Miss Marisa... Cirno: ..... Rumia: ..... Suika: ..... Marisa: ...What're you all staring at? Rumia: What, does the kiss come later? Cirno: You suck at takin' initiative! Marisa: I wasn't trying to WOO her! Cirno: Then why's her face so red? Koakuma: No, I... nothing of the...! Suika: Marisa's too hot to handle... Marisa: Enough! We're heading on to the next and last one! Right, Koakuma?! Koakuma: Y... Yes! [[ Ending (Easy) ]] Marisa: WHOO-HOO! We finally got all the barriers down! Cirno: Hooray! Now you can all call me a lady! Rumia: Great job! Well, now what? Suika: Whoooy, great jerb... Koakuma: ...A job well done... It was really... quite difficult. Marisa: Wasn't it? But gotta work yourself sometimes, eh? Cirno: Alright, you culprit, show yourself! Lady Cirno, the beautiful fairy maiden, has smashed apart your scheme! Marisa: Hey, you didn't do too bad either. Marisa: Still, though, definitely no lady. Cirno: Am too! My goal is ladyship and I am THERE! Marisa: Bluh! Don't spit at me in your excitement... How can you call THAT ladylike? Marisa: Well, at least for now, I've kinda taken a liking to you! I'm willing to recognize your ability... a little! Rumia: Um, what now? What about the culprit? [Aya comes in] Aya: Whoa! You guys got through the labyrinth?! Congrats! Cirno: Well, of course... heh heh! Aya: Marisa, you just conquered a labyrinth! How do you feel?! Cirno: Hey, ask me too! Marisa: How's Reimu's group? Aya: Oh, I don't know... I'd say they're probably about as far along as you. Marisa: Hey, if we finish simultaneously, we win, right?! 'Cause we entered ours later! Suika: But ain't their's harder? Marisa: No way, what gave you that idea?! Must've miscalculated the difficulty or something! Koakuma: ..... Rumia: What is it, lady? Koakuma: ...Oh? Am I a lady...? Suika: Oh yeah... ya had somethin' to tell us earlier, right? Koakuma: Y-Yes... Suika: Well, I'll be here listenin' with my sake. Koakuma: ...I apologize, everyone. I was the one who made this labyrinth. Cirno: S-Say WHAAAT?! Aya: A shocking revelation... and a real big scoop! Marisa: Eh, I sorta had a feeling... Cirno: Y-Yeah, me too! I was all, "yeah, I bet that's it!" Rumia: Cirno, you literally reacted with "say what?!" just now. Cirno: I did not. You can't prove it. Aya: Oh yes, you did. I wrote it down, you see. Cirno: Aaack! You jerk! Cirno: A lady can't be made to keep looking to her past! Marisa: Seems she's a lady at her own convenience... Marisa: So, why did you do it? Koakuma: ...For Lady Flan. Marisa: For Flandre? Cirno: Who? Marisa: Little sis of the mansion's mistress. Koakuma: Lady Flan wasn't satisfied with Lady Remilia not allowing her to go outside much. Koakuma: And though it may have been for her own good... being stuck in her room only made it worse for her... Koakuma: Lately Lady Flan's seemed very frustrated, and I could not help but take pity on her. Marisa: Uh-huh... So then you gave Flandre the book? Marisa: Which means you stole Patchy's book... Koakuma: Yes... Lady Patchouli had told me much about the labyrinth. Koakuma: And I also saw where she had sealed the book and hidden the key. Cirno: I don't get it. How would giving what's-her-face the book be good for her? Koakuma: I'm not sure how to put it exactly, but I believe she wanted it mostly as a way to let off some steam... Marisa: Ah, I get it now. Well hey, she's gotta let all that power loose somewhere! Koakuma: The mansion and garden were off-limits, given they were in Lady Remilia's sight... Koakuma: But as long as the magic labyrinth stayed inside, I figured it would be all right, and thus gave her the book. Marisa: So the goal wasn't really a labyrinth, but a safe place to run wild? Aya: So I see... Yet she was taken over by the magic, and made a yet harder labyrinth...? Koakuma: No, not quite... Marisa: No? Koakuma: Lady Flan mastered use of the book. But in making her labyrinth... Koakuma: She kept making more and more complex puzzles, sealing herself in the deepest chamber. Suika: Tha's where Reimu 'n' such're headin', huh? Koakuma: Yes. Cirno: Huh? So what's this labyrinth? Koakuma: This is a labyrinth I made. Before I gave the book to Lady Flan. Koakuma: It was intended as a way for me to practice using the book... so I could teach her how it was done. Marisa: So you made it outside in the garden, where nobody'd find it? Koakuma: Yes. And I made it relatively simple so that I could afterward solve it and do away with it. Koakuma: Except... Marisa: Except what? Koakuma: ...After I'd confirmed the Mistress had left, I headed to destroy the labyrinth... Koakuma: ...and found Marisa, and the rest of you... Marisa: Hah... And that lousy timing brings us up to now. Cirno: WHAT?! So you mean all this time... it was YOUR fault we went through all that?! Koakuma: Yes... I'm truly sorry about everything. I didn't even conceive this might happen... it is, as you say, entirely my fault. Marisa: Oh, come on! It's no biggie! Koakuma: Ah...? Marisa: We beat everything and now it's done, right? Just like you intended from the start! Koakuma: W-Well, yes... Marisa: And Reimu's gang'll finish up soon, then we can just pull out Flandre and it's all done! Marisa: Seriously, you're way too serious. No need to think so hard all the time. Koakuma: But... how can I possibly explain my actions to Mistress Remilia...? Marisa: There's nothing to apologize for! Marisa: If this were all your crazy idea, sure, that'd be bad, but you were just thinking of Flandre, right? Marisa: Heck, I'll go explain it to her with you! Everything'll be just fine! Marisa: Plus, I cleared my name, and it was a blast to do it! Koakuma: Miss Marisa... Rumia: Lady, your face is going red again... Koakuma: No, I...! Suika: Last time was basically some total stranger makin' labbyrinths 'cause-a their own dumb desires... Suika: But iffa friend messes up a lil', 'salright with me! Marisa: Hey! Late in the conversation, buddy... Koakuma: Everyone... Thank you so very much! Cirno: Right, now to just triumph on over to the others! How can we get there? Aya: May I be of service? Koakuma: No, I believe the others are very close nearby. Somewhere... just beyond this wall. Koakuma: I think perhaps that the sources of magic behind my labyrinth and Lady Flan's are attracted to each other. Rumia: Hey... if you listen close, it sounds like there's people talking behind the wall! Marisa: Hm... sure seems like it. Must be Reimu and the rest! At last... a good reason to smash down some walls! Koakuma: That's rather... rash... Marisa: We'll be FINE! We'll pull something off! Marisa: I keep tellin' ya, you gotta have more fun with life! Got it?! Koakuma: ...Yes. Koakuma: I'm so very glad I could go through the labyrinth with you all...! Cirno: Hohohoh! A lady must aid those in need! And now a lady's gonna help destroy this here wall! Rumia: Me too! Marisa: Alright, let's make this FLASHY!! Marisa: MASTER SPAAAAARK!!! ...To be continued in Normal. [[ First Barrier Down (Normal) ]] Reimu: Alright, that's one greater barrier down now. Remilia: Congratulations. Really brings you back, doesn't it? Reimu: If you want to say that... Though it does seem a bit harder than last time. Sakuya: Perhaps the size of the door denotes the difficulty? Patchouli: Possibly. The strength of the creator's magic would likely lend to the size of the labyrinth. Meiling: So we've got a powerful magician on our hands... Just who could have done it...?! Reimu: Flandre, I'll bet? Meiling: W-What, Reimu?! Couldn't you... hide it a little longer?! Make it gradual... keep her identity in the shadows... eh? Reimu: Well, no one else is around the mansion, so Flandre would HAVE to be behind this. Remilia, you think it's your sister's doing too, don't you? Remilia: Ugh, I suppose... I can think of no one else. Sakuya: Mistress... I expected as much. But surely your sister had some manner of good intentions. Remilia: Flan's intentions... Well, nothing to be done but get through this labyrinth and question her all about it. Reimu: Yeah, yeah, I'll be "getting you through"... Patchouli: Yet... if this is Flandre's doing, there are some matters I do not comprehend... Meiling: Like what? Patchouli: I do not think Flandre took possession of the book personally. Remilia: What do you mean? Patchouli: Flandre always holes up in her room and rarely walks around the mansion, so she would have little way of knowing where the book and key were hidden. Patchouli: Meaning... Meiling: Meaning...? Patchouli: Meaning there is a certain someone who gave Flandre the book. Meiling: M-Might that be our true culprit...?! Patchouli: ...Well, as I don't know their motives for doing such, I can't say much. Meiling: Books, huh... You know, the other day, I brought Lady Flandre a whole bunch of books to read... Meiling: But I don't have a clue who could've come and given her any books since then...! Reimu: Oh. Our culprit. Remilia: ..... Sakuya: ..... Meiling: Eh? W-Wait, no! It wasn't me! Sakuya: Do not shame the Mistress with your excuses. Meiling: You've got it wrong! S-Sakuya, stop giving me that scary look! Sakuya: I apologize on her behalf, Mistress... I shall take up the duty of punishing her myself. Meiling: Nooo! Wrong, all wrong! I checked the contents of every book! And isn't the thing locked up with a key anyway?! Patchouli: Ah, I suppose. Then we can confirm it was not Meiling. Meiling: You shoulda jumped in to save me earlier! Patchouli: Sorry. That was funny, though. Meiling: R... REALLY?! Reimu: Well, we'll be sure to press Flandre on that once we make it through. I want to get this done before it really starts wearing on me. Sakuya: Such positivity! Admirable! Reimu: I've learned. I've seen how bad things can get near the end... Remilia: ...Ugh, Flan... Even when I was so strict with you... You come out of your room to do this... Sakuya: Mistress... Remilia: Well, like Reimu says, we need to go ahead now. Reimu: Right. If we keep agonizing over why she'd do it, we won't get anywhere. Okay, time to go! [Reimu... skips off screen] Meiling: Sakuya must hate me... Sakuya must hate me... Patchouli: You seem to have wounded her deeply. Sakuya: Such a pain... We're going, Meiling. If I really hated you, I'd just ditch you, you know. Meiling: Sakuya... Sakuya: Besides, I never really doubted you. I certainly believe you... on that count. Meiling: Sakuya... Sakuya: Now if I had truly doubted you earlier, you wouldn't be one for this world anymore. Meiling: Sakuyaaaaa! [[ Second Barrier Down (Normal) ]] Reimu: Well, second greater barrier... This labyrinth is seriously bad to the bone. Sakuya: Congratulations. Reimu: It's rough when you're forced into doing something... Reimu: I don't much want to, but... since I've already started, I guess I've got to finish. Sakuya: I do like that about you. Reimu: Hmph... you're still chipper. ...Well, this one's a real workout, so that motivates me a little. Sakuya: Yes, one must always work out. Such is how the Mistress tides over her boredom. Remilia: Boredom... Sakuya: What is it, Mistress? Remilia: ...You think Flan is doing this because she's bored? Meiling: Er... that'd really be... something. Remilia: Doing all this simply because of that... ugh. I'll have to speak with her more harshly than ever once we've caught her. Sakuya: Mistress... Patchouli: Oh, I doubt it's a result of mere boredom, myself. Remilia: ...Why's that? Patchouli: Well, there are other things available to her. I, for one, could lend her some easy-reading books. Patchouli: I may not know who gave her the book, but I suspect this was not the result they had in mind. Remilia: Then what was? Patchouli: As for that... well, we can't really know until we hear it from Flandre. Patchouli: So let's at least wait to hear everyone's reasoning until we get in a tizzy, yes? Remilia: ...It's rough having such a naughty sister. [Aya flies in] Aya: Yo! I''m back! Remilia: Ah... the tengu reporter. What are the happenings? Sakuya: You mentioned another affair? Aya: Yeah! BREAKING NEWS! There's another door to a labyrinth just like this! Mysteriously, it's out in the garden, and seems to go into the forest... Remilia: Another one?! That's... unexpected... why are there two...? Sakuya: Could it also be the work... of the Mistress's sister? Patchouli: I wonder... Without analyzing the magic, I couldn't say. Meiling: Well, does that mean we have to do something about that one too? Reimu: Wait, you don't mean... Don't tell me I'll have to do that one after this?! I'll want TRIPLE for that! Meiling: Er, I guess we could go triple... Aya: Nah, Marisa's busy taking care of it right now! Remilia: Marisa, hm? Aya: Her, a fairy, a darkness youkai, a drunk oni... and the librarian here at the mansion! Patchouli: Koakuma, too? Sakuya: So the members we left behind and a few extra. Patchouli: Well, I told Koakuma all about the labyrinth from last time, so I think she'll be a great help, and capable of analyzing the magic, too. Aya: Also, Marisa told me to tell you "we're gonna find the culprit over here!" Sakuya: She sounds like she's teasing us. Remilia: Ah, anyhow. As long as they keep doing what they're doing over there. Meiling: Bet you wanted that three-times donation! Reimu: N-Not particularly... It's just that I really didn't want to work overtime. So if I don't have to, I'll be fine. Aya: Oh, one more thing. When I told 'em the culprit was someone on the inside... Marisa said "I'll make them pay for their dumb accusations!" Reimu: Oh yes, we WERE accusing her... Remilia: On second thought, it would be an impossibility... Patchouli: Doubt her as we may, we can't deny that. Meiling: But Marisa sounds pretty angry. Hey! But wasn't I suspected then cleared of it too, just like Marisa?! Sakuya: So you were. Meiling: Yeah, sheesh! I've had false charges against me too! Sakuya: Yes. But of course, if you just worked diligently and never nodded off, there'd be nothing to suspect, right? Meiling: .....Y-Yeah. It... is like you said... Remilia: At any rate, we need to take care of things over here. Reimu: Well, to the next... Aya, tell Marisa "sorry!" Patchouli: And could you tell us how Koakuma and the rest are doing? Aya: Understood! I'm on it! [Everyone but Sakuya leaves] Sakuya: ...She's quite useful. Unlike a certain someone. Meiling: ?! [[ Third Barrier Down (Normal) ]] Reimu: Right, that's greater barrier number three down! ...O-Ooh, there come the hip pains. Remilia: Your age catching up with you again, eh? Reimu: Oh, leave me alone. Patchouli: But these puzzles are very clearly more... puzzling than before. Too much of this, and anyone'd get tired... Sakuya: Lady Patchouli... If you're tired, we could always head back to the mansion to rest. Reimu: Oh, me too? Sakuya: Oh, don't make excuses. Reimu: Hey, I should be allowed at least SOME kind of break. Sakuya: I suppose... If it's a break you want, I suppose the Mistress and the others are rather tired as well. Reimu: Whew... Sakuya: Mistress, your tea. Remilia: Thank you. Meiling: Buh?! Sakuya, where'd you get that teaset from?! Sakuya: I stopped time and ran back to the mansion to obtain it. Meiling: Oh yeah, right... Then you shoulda brought me back ramen, too! Remilia: What on earth... Sakuya: You want noodles at a time like this...? Please, just wait until we get back. Meiling: Oh... Well, the Mistress's sister pesters me to bring it to her all the time, so I thought the Mistress might enjoy it too... Remilia: Wait... You were doing WHAT with Flan...? And HOW many times? Meiling: Er... uh. Sakuya: Fool... Remilia: I thought you were only going down to read to her... and you've been doing things with Flan behind my back?! Meiling: Yeeep... er, it was definitely a good way of curing your sister's boredom, though... Remilia: ...Boredom-curing again... Patcohuli: Yes, if Flandre has been getting along with everyone, that's done a fine job of staving off boredom, hasn't it? Remilia: Seems that way... Well, then why did she make this labyrinth...? Meiling: (That was clooooose!) Sakuya: (Idiotic... the Mistress was absolutely upset there.) Meiling: (Right...! I'll be careful...) (...Though there's one more thing I wanna say...) Sakuya: (...Dare I ask?) Meiling: Er... Mistress! Remilia: Hm? Meiling: Like you said, I did indeed frequently visit your sister's room to read to her! Oh, and play games! Sakuya: Wh...! Meiling: ...But no matter what I did with her, she never seemed quite satisfied with it... Remilia: I suppose she must have wanted to go outside? Meiling: Well, yeah, that, but that's not all... I think there's some more stuff she really desired to do... Remilia: ...What? I don't believe I get your point... Meiling: Sorry, I just can't keep my mouth shut for some reason... But anyway, I think that stuff might be why she's doing all this now. Remilia: ...Well, we'll have to hear it straight from her mouth. Desires, hm... Reimu: Whew, that was a nice break... Hip status, much better! Remilia: Your age catching up with you again, eh? Reimu: Oh, leave me alone. Let's get onto the next. Not too much more, right? Patchouli: Two more. Remilia: Good luck, now. Reimu: Well, if I made it this far... [Everyone but Meiling and Sakuya leave] Meiling: Whew, that was scaaary... Sakuya: What on earth are you doing? Sakuya: If you deeply hurt the Mistress, a mere apology will not suffice. Meiling: Man, what AM I doing?... Hah! Sakuya: ...Ah, you fool. From now on... I think you ought to leave Lady Flandre to me. Meiling: Sakuya... Sakuya: Don't get careless. Let's go. Meiling: Right! Alright, let's do this! [[ Fourth Barrier Down (Normal) ]] Reimu: Barrier four... DOWN! Patchouli: Congratulations. Reimu: One more, right...? Patchouli: Ah, yes. Quite a big deal, isn't it? Reimu: You can say that again... Remilia: Perhaps starting to enjoy solving these puzzles? Reimu: Uh, I think not... This is wearing on mind, body, and heart. When we find Flandre, she'll be getting what's coming to her. Remilia: ..... Sakuya: Mistress... Reimu: It was a joke! Hey, why are you so quiet? Remilia: ...Just wondering why Flandre would do this. Again. Reimu: Just thinking it over won't help, will it? We're only one barrier away, so I'll just smash it for you. And then you'll get your answers. Remilia: Why, this isn't you at all. Much too positive. Reimu: If I'm not positive against the impossible, I'll snap and never want to see another labyrinth for as long as I live... Remilia: Well, I suppose it's as you say. Only Flandre will have the answers. And for now, wondering why she would do this... will have to be set aside. Reimu: ...This is just me talking, but... since she's family, couldn't you turn a blind eye to something minor? Remilia: This is MINOR? And Reimu, you were quite mad at Marisa for the prior incident, were you not? Reimu: She is not even REMOTELY family! And, well, okay, I suppose this incident is also quite troublesome... Reimu: But from a passerby's point of view, it's little more than a sisters' quarrel! Remilia: ...Don't you dare speak lightly of sisters' quarrels. Well, I suppose I'll consider it that way. Reimu: By the way, about that donation you're sending me... Reimu: When you pay someone for their labor, that isn't exactly a donation, is it...? Meiling: Paying someone for labor isn't a donation...? Patchouli: Well, I suppose you could call it something like a mutual donation... [Aya appears] Aya: Hey! How goes it, everyone?! Reimu: Aya... Patchouli: Oh, we're progressing, but naturally feeling the fatigue about now... How is Koakuma's party faring? Aya: Oh, I think they're progressing about the same rate. Gotta say, seems more fun over there. Reimu: More... fun?! Aya: Yep. They say they feel really achieved to be making it through the labyrinth. Remilia: Heh. It's no big deal. Don't you think you should follow their example and enjoy yourself? Reimu: ...T-The difficulty is incomparable! This is hard enough to merit a donation! You can't associate me with Marisa, goofing around half the time... Patchouli: ...What an odd kind of pride. Meiling: Well, at least she sounds motivated...! Aya: And one last note from Koakuma. They're gonna hurry to finish over there so they can come help! [Aya leaves] Patchouli: She doesn't need to, but she will... How very like her. Meiling: Guess they've got lotsa wiggle room over there. Remilia: Ah, Reimu... If you keep at this rate, they truly will finish first, won't they? Reimu: ...Nobody said this was a competition. But still, don't want to take it too slow. I'll just get tired that way. Reimu: ...Nope, WE'LL finish first and help THEM. Okay, time for the finale! Sakuya: She just so hates to lose... [[ Ending (Normal) ]] At last, Reimu and her party cleared all the greater barriers. Their members gathered to open the final door, and beyond it... Remilia: So here you are...! Flan, what is the MEANING of this?! Flandre: ...Sister! Flandre: ..... Meiling: M... Mistress? Be gentle, now... Remilia: ...I was thinking that when I finally found you, I'd question you thoroughly, but... Meiling... as you said. Does Flan not have certain desires? Meiling: Uh? Yeah... I said that, I guess... Remilia: Flan... what is it you want? What displeases you? Do you wish to go out? Flandre: I'm not telling. Remilia: Flandre! Be reasonable! It was quite fun going through the labyrinth to find you, but it can't just end like this! Reimu: Riiight, fun... Maybe for you, but for me, not even. Unbelievable... Patchouli: Excuse me, but as this is a family matter, would you let me watch? Reimu: Fine by me. No problem as long as I get my donation in the end. Reimu: In fact, maybe I'll get you guys a little meal so you can spend some quality family time. Patchouli: You're in quite a mood... You must be so pleased with your accomplishment. Reimu: Eh, a little. Just telling myself it was worth it to go through all that. Remilia: Come, now, talk to me. And we'll head back promptly. Flandre: No, no, NO! I said NO! Remilia: Flandre... Be a good sister and come back with me, alright? Meiling: Waaah... w-wait a moment, Mistress! Show mercy...! Sakuya: Meiling... just leave this to me. I told you that, didn't I? Meiling: S... Sakuyaaa! Sakuya: Oh, quit crying. Mistress Remilia... Will you not respect your sister's wishes? Remilia: I only want to hear her reasons! But she won't talk to me! So what am I to do? Sakuya: Promise her you won't get mad. I believe there was good reason for her to have gone this far. Sakuya: Can't you refrain from holding a grudge and just listen? It's not too late. Remilia: ..... Meiling: I-I'm begging you, too! Your sister just went a liiittle too far... She's really a good kid! Remilia: ...Fine. Hmph, you make me sound like a criminal. Flan, I promise I won't get angry at you. So please, explain to me why you did this. Flandre: Don't WANNA! Remilia: ..... Flandre: ..... Meiling: Yikes... this might get ugly... Remilia: ...I won't be mad. I promised you that. Flandre: ...Sister... Sakuya: Well, Lady Flandre? Lady Remilia always keeps her promises. Sakuya: So, m'lady, you should do the same. Flandre: ...Okay. I first made labyrinths so I could let loose in them, but... I stopped. Sakuya: And why did you stop? Flandre: I could do stuff like that... and my sister wouldn't even pay attention. Remilia: ...! Flandre: I was letting loose, sure, but after that, I just sat around in my room... nothing ever changed. Sure, I could handle sitting in my room... Flandre: But I couldn't stand my sister always ignoring me! So I went inside the labyrinth... Sakuya: So you were seeking something from her... Remilia: Flan... Reimu: Then it was akin to fleeing home because you wanted people to worry about you? Patchouli: Yes, that's it... Remilia: ...So it's all because I hardly ever paid you any mind... Meiling: Er, Mistress... I think it would be alright if you went to your sister's room to play every once in a while, don't you? Remilia: Me? Meiling: Well, if you insist she be in her room, then there's no other choice. But as much as I read to her, and as much as Sakuya helps out... Meiling: I think what would make your sister happiest is for you to play with her, Mistress. Remilia: So this is what Flandre desired, then... Meiling: After all, your sister loves you above everyone else, Mistress. Remilia: ...I see. Alright... I'm sorry, Flan. Remilia: In always telling you to stay in your room, I didn't give you a chance to get along with anybody. So from now on, me, Meiling, Sakuya, and so on shall all come to play. Flandre: Really?! Remilia: Yes. I promise it. Flandre: Sister... Meiling: Aww... that's just swell... Sakuya: What a beautiful spectacle... Remilia: Flan! Flandre: Sisssss! MASTER SPAAAAARK!!! Meiling: AHHHH!! Mistress FLANDREEEEE! Reimu: G'hem... what in the...? Marisa: Ha ha HAH! Introducing... Marisa Kirisame! Rumia: And introducing me! Cirno: Haha! Think better of me now? Suika: Woooy... tha's the power of sake... Aya: Ho there, everyone's all together in one happy reunion! Everything settled over here, too? Sakuya: Mistress Flandre! Marisa: Huh? Flandre? Oh yeah, the culprit over here was Flandre! Where she at? Patchouli: ...Collapsed at your feet. Koakuma: Lady Remilia, are you alright?! Remilia: Hack... yes, I'm fine. ...But we amassed quite a crowd... what's all this? Patchouli: It would seem there was another labyrinth just nearby! I noticed Koakuma's group was approaching, but I... did not forsee any destruction of walls... Remilia: Ah?! Flan...?! Marisa: Looks a little knocked out, but she'll come around. Remilia: What have you DONE...?! Marisa: It was just an accident, man! Suika: Hey, maybe she'll wake up with some sake... Cirno: Or shall I wake her with a snowstorm? Meiling: Please don't! Reimu: Ugh, this is ridiculous... Flandre: ...PWAH! Marisa: Ah, there she goes. Sakuya: Lady Flandre... Are you all right? Flandre: ..... That was GREAT!! Marisa: Wasn't it, though? Remilia: Don't act so peppy! Sheesh... Reimu: So, how did that other labyrinth turn out? Marisa: Eh? Right, ours... Koakuma: Oh, I'm so sorry, Lady Remilia! Remilia: ...What's this? Koakuma: It was all my fault! I... Flandre: !! Koa, you didn't do anything wrong! Koakuma: Lady Flandre... Flandre: You've always done so much for me, Koa! Koakuma: Yes, but this time, it was all my fault that... Remilia: ...That what? Patchouli: Well, it's fine now, right? Remilia: Patchy...? Patchouli: It's time to ensure this book REALLY never gets opened again. You've learned your lesson, yes? Koakuma: ...Yes. I'm sorry, Lady Patchouli. Marisa: Alright, already, we settled it! Let's just stop caring! Poof! Now to celebrate! Remilia: Hmph... well, alright. Suika: Poof into a party...? Lookin' forward to it... Rumia: Will there be lots of food?! Marisa: Sure... but probably not what you're hoping for. Remilia: A party... Brilliant! Flandre: ...Party! Meiling: Aw... um, Mistress, your sister... Remilia: I know. Flandre, after the party's over, you'll have to go back to your room. Flandre: Okey-doooooke!!! Sakuya: Satisfied, Lady Flandre? I, for one, am truly glad to see you two mend your relationship. Flandre: Yep! Cirno: A party... sounds sweet! Flandre: Sure will be! Meiling: You're in such a good mood, Lady Flandre! It brings a smile to my face too! Well, it'll take a while, but I'll get the party ready! Aya: Ooh, and I'll be there to help you out! This event is looking to be a great article! Sakuya: Why, thank you. I wonder if this'll sell you a lot of newspapers. Aya: Right! Then I'm off! [Aya leaves] Reimu: Whew, happily ever after! So, about... you know... Sakuya: Mm? Ah, yes. Let's wait until the reporter returns. Reimu: Ahem? Sorry, I don't get you. Sakuya: Your donation is presently in the reporter's hands. Reimu: Huh? ...Why? Sakuya: Didn't you say? You'd get us a meal to spend some quality family time... Reimu: I did, but... no, that's not... There won't be that many people, will there?! Marisa: Well, Reimu, you ARE a big eater! Oh yeah, and at the party, you gotta atone for not trusting me! Remilia: Big eater, eh? Rumia: Big eater! Flandre: Big eater! Reimu: ...Well... it'll only be a small chunk, eh? No big deal... Suika: One-a, two-a, three-a... 'zat twelve tengu I see? Dang, big family. [Aya comes in] Aya: Hey, I'm back! Reimu: How...?! How much did you spend?! Aya: Not to worry! It was just enough! Sakuya: That's great, then. Leave the change with the girl here. Aya: Right, here you are! Reimu: Ahhhhh... This... this is little more than a tip... Patchouli: Well, that is all a donation typically is. Marisa: Ah, meat, veggies, and lotsa sake... splendid! Hey, everybody, round of applause for Reimu! Thanks, Reimu! Great job! Remilia: Congratulations! Patchouli: I admit I feel a bit sorry for you, but... well, good job. Meiling: Congrats! Sakuya: Congratulations. Flandre: 'grats! Rumia: Good on ya! Cirno: Aw, don't mention it! Aya: A job well done! Koakuma: I apologize... but good work. Suika: Congrats, Reimu... now jus' leave all the sake to me! Reimu: ...Well... I'm wanting a drink too... share some? Suika: Ooh... don't see that every day... sure thing! Hereya! Reimu: Thanks... ah, salty... that's some good sake. And so the magnificent party continued for some time, echoing with everyone's laughter and shouts. Fin
