The Scarlet Devil Mansion. A mansion built on an island in the Lake of Mist, and to which Reimu and Suika have been invited. In the words of Remilia, the mansion's mistress: "How about the occasional tea party?" With plenty of time to waste, Reimu grabbed Suika and headed out for an elegant tea party at the mansion. Remilia: How's the tea? Reimu: Oh, absolutely delicious! This is some great barley tea. Remilia: ...It's black tea. Suika: It's not sakeee... Sakuya: I brewed it carefully with special high-quality tea leaves from the Mistress. Please, savor the taste. Suika: Saaakeee... Sakuya: ...What's with this brat? Reimu: Oh, I just took her along. Suika: Gim-me sa-ke! Gim-me sa-ke! Reimu: I thought your gourd held infinite sake? Suika: I've been invited, ain't I?! I wanna try somebody ELSE'S sake!! Sakuya: ...We may have a small quantity of tea-flavored brandy. Suika: Gimme! Gimme thaaat! Sakuya: Meiling, if you would. Meiling: Understood! Reimu: ...Whew. Good meal. Remilia: It was my pleasure. Reimu: Well, now to say my farewell. Remilia: Sakuya. [Sakuya teleports behind Reimu] Sakuya: You shall not be leaving until you have spoken with the Mistress. Reimu: Oh, I figured something like this would happen... Remilia: And you came knowing that, didn't you? Reimu: What do you need me for? Want me to beat something up, or what? Remilia: You catch on quick, Reimu. I like that. Reimu: Keep it short. I'm thinking this isn't gonna be good news... Remilia: Patchy, will you explain? Patchouli: We should show her soon... Let's move this elsewhere. Remilia: Take a look at this door. Reimu: Way too big... I thought you had better taste than this? Remilia: I didn't make it! It just appeared! Reimu: Huh? What do you mean? Suika: REIMUUU! I gots a barrel! A BARREL!! Reimu: They gave you a BARREL of brandy...?! Suika, don't you think that'll be a little TOO much? Suika: Pfft! Yeahhh, riiight! Meiling: Sorry, all I could find were barrels... Sakuya: Right, whatever. Anyway, explain this door for her already. Meiling: Uh... You mean this...? Reimu: What? Meiling: Well, uh... yesterday, I was doing my usual gatekeeping... But then, Marisa came by! Reimu: And you were dozing off, of course? Sakuya: Definitely dozing off, yes. Meiling: Aww... Well, I faintly remember hearing a "lemme through, ze!", so I'm sure it was Marisa... Sakuya: And just afterward, this door appeared. Remilia: That someone would build such a thing here without a word to the Mansion's mistress... is a bit worrisome. Reimu: A truly serious matter, it would seem... Can I go now? Patchouli: We tried to investigate, but it's protected by a special kind of barrier... I'm sure it was created with Marisa's magic. That's why we wanted you to do something. Reimu: Um, I don't see the logic in your "that's why." Patchouli: Magicians and youkai don't go well with barriers. Patchouli: You're the most compatible for the situation. And really, isn't Marisa a good friend of yours? Reimu: First I've heard of it. I hope you're not trying to call us a duo. Patchouli: Anyway, that's not all. Behind the door are a series of magically-made rooms. Reimu: Ah, I see. Patchouli: The rooms go on and on. They just keep going further and further, in this direction... Suika: Ooh... the Hakurei Shrine's that way! Reimu: Are you kidding me?! Sakuya: Marisa has made a suspicious barrier in our basement extending toward your shrine. Still think you have nothing to do with this? Reimu: Stop iiit... Remilia: Just think of it as another job. Reimu: If it were youkai extermination, I'd be glad. Reimu: But cleaning up after Marisa for some reason I don't even know? Forget it! It's not my fault what happens to my shrine... Remilia: There'll be a reward. Reimu: Heh... You think I'll change my mind that easily? Patchouli: We'll put all our coins into your offering box. Reimu: .......... Reimu: You think that'll convince me? How many? How many coins is that?! Patchouli: Enough to make your pitifully hungry offering box well-fed, that's for sure. Reimu: Sigh... I suppose I must! Meiling: Got 'er!! Sakuya: Such compassion... Meiling: Well, a lot of coins... doesn't really add up to a lot of money... Sakuya: It's not just how much it's actually worth... It's clearly worth enough to her, don't you think? Patchouli: First of all, let's take a look inside... And we'll explain what we know. [[ Tutorial 1-1 ]] Patchouli: Inside, tiny rooms like these continue for who knows how long. Reimu: So it seems. The room itself is a barrier... and I think some number of them make up a greater barrier. Suika: Like the Hakurei Border? Reimu: Simpler than that. But it's still a very peculiar barrier... Patchouli: First of all, you need to escape through a seam in the barrier. Reimu: Seam? Patchouli: Yes. Right there. Remilia: All I see is a door... Sakuya: So a seam has been made intentionally in the shape of a door? Patchouli: Exactly. But it's not so simple to escape. Can you do anything? Reimu: Maybe if I raise my power... Seeing as there seem to be sources of power scattered around the room. Meiling: You mean the "Pt." and "P" thingies? Remilia: It seems rather strange that they'd be there... Sakuya: Does it mean this was all carefully planned, then? Patchouli: It must be. This must have all been set up by Marisa. Remilia: Which means... there must be other traps in store besides gathering up power. Reimu: I feel like I'm playing a game or something... Sakuya: Just like it, definitely. Patchouli: In conclusion, to escape from the rooms... or rather, labyrinths... Hm... - Each labyrinth is dotted with "Pt." and "P" items that give you power. - Once all the power in a labyrinth has been gathered, the seam... "door" can be broken through. - Repeat this to get through the "greater barrier." Suika: S'easy! Reimu: That's NOT easy! There's certainly going to be obstacles in gathering the power... Patchouli: In addition, there doesn't seem to be just one greater barrier... Remilia: So a series of labyrinths make up a greater barrier... And who knows how many of those there are. Meiling: This is hurting my head! Sakuya: Must we break through all the labyrinths? Patchouli: No, it seems that breaking through most of the labyrinths supporting a greater barrier will be sufficient... So getting 100% isn't really necessary. Remilia: Which means if you just can't get through one labyrinth, you can try your hand at other ones instead! Reimu: Oh, am I ever glad for that... Remilia: Good luck, for your donation's sake. Reimu: Huh? Am I going alone?! Patchouli: Only you have the power to break through those doors. Meiling: It's like your own personal dungeon! Reimu: Ugh... Marisaaa... Patchouli: It's fine. We can still watch and converse with magic. Sakuya: We'll watch everything from outside. I thought you knew that from the start. Suika: Wooooo! G'luck, Reimuuu! Reimu: Sigh... Reimu: Well, I guess I need to get going...! ~ About Reimu-Power ~ Sources of power are scattered around the map as "Pt." and "P" items. Once all are collected, you can enter the door to beat the stage. ~ About Retrying ~ When you get stuck and want to restart, the Retry button will return you to the start of the stage. ~ About Solution Replays ~ In the tutorial stages, you can view replays of the solutions. If you absolutely can't beat a stage, just stand still at the start and press the Retry button. [[ Tutorial 1-2 ]] Reimu: This Koakuma doll... She won't budge, but... Meiling: She's cuuute! I want one! Patchouli: (I bet our Koakuma would be overjoyed if we took one back...) Remilia: You can't move her? Reimu: Certainly not as she is... But maybe if I turn her into a Yin-Yang Ball...? Remilia: Then you could move her, and maybe use her as a shield. Reimu: Hm, she could be useful in a lot of different ways, yeah. Patchouli: Ours would likely make a better librarian if we turned her into a doll. ~ About Koakuma ~ Reimu isn't hurt if she touches Koakuma, and she can't attack or move. If turned into a Yin-Yang Ball, she can be moved, used as a shield from attacks, or pushed into water, where she'll float. ~ About Shots ~ Collecting a "P" item allows you to fire two more shots, which will turn enemies into Yin-Yang Balls for a short time. Yin-Yang Balls can be pushed around or, with another shot, sent off the screen. Once sent off-screen, enemies will respawn in their original positions after a short time. [[ Tutorial 1-3 ]] Reimu: A Rumia doll... And this one moves around. Meiling: Is she okay to touch? Patchouli: Okay? Well, if you touch her, it seems she'll swoon. Suika: Hella weak! Flawless victory for Reimu! Remilia: Just go out there and make them all faint, then. Patchouli: Wait... Once she faints, she won't snap out of it or move at all. Sakuya: So if she faints in an awkward place, she'll block your passage...! Reimu: I didn't think of that... What a pain. ~ About Rumia ~ Rumia runs around the labyrinth harmlessly, but if Reimu touches her, she'll swoon. Once down, she can't be moved or turned into a Yin-Yang Ball, so be careful of where she faints. [[ Tutorial 1-4 ]] Reimu: Cirno doll... Energetic as ever... Remilia: ...What's this? Meiling: She's an ice fairy who loiters around the lake surrounding the mansion. Sometimes she comes by, but I drive her out! Patchouli: Once she sees Reimu, she'll run right at her. Remilia: What a moron. Sakuya: Yes, she's quite the imbecile. Patchouli: Her vision is very limited; she'll only see right in front of her. So she'll only chase you if you're aligned with her. Remilia: Such a blistering idiot. Sakuya: Yes, she's really quite the simpleton. Reimu: I wonder how faithful Marisa was in reproducing her...? ~ About Cirno ~ If Cirno is aligned with Reimu horizontally, she'll charge right at her, even straight into obstacles. However, she won't charge if they're aligned vertically. Touching her will make you fail the level. [[ Tutorial 1-5 ]] Meiling: Oh! It's MY doll! Reimu: Sleeping, au naturel... Suika: Why ain'tchu workin'?! Sakuya: These really are faithful replicas, aren't they...? Meiling: Aww... Remilia: Is she of any use? Meiling: Of course... definitely! I'll stay asleep even if you touch me!! Reimu: ...Well, nothing's happening. Sakuya: ... [Sakuya teleports behind Meiling and apparently stabs her] Meiling: Owowow! That hurt, Sakuya! Geez, I didn't mean ME!! Patchouli: Wait... once all the power items in the labyrinth have been collected and the door opens, she'll get up and chase you. Meiling: Aha! That's my specialty! Reimu: It really isn't, is it...? Patchouli: Be careful, as all the Meiling dolls will come after you at once. Sakuya: If they'd just get up and chase you in the first place...! Reimu: Whoa, hey, I don't wanna be chased! Not THESE Meilings! ~ About Meiling ~ Meiling in her natural state is sleeping, and harmless to touch. When all the "Pt." and "P" items have been collected, she wakes up and chases Reimu. Of course, touching her fails the level. [[ Tutorial 1-6 ]] Patchouli: Ah, it's my...! Remilia: Heh, so there's a Patchouli doll, too! Reimu: And she's sitting and reading? Patchouli: But it seems they do possess Fire Sign powers... And they'll use them once all the power items have been collected. Meiling: Hey, isn't that just like me?! Sakuya: You shall NOT associate yourself with Lady Patchouli. Meiling: S... Sorry... Patchouli: They'll let off Fire Sign magic at you in a straight line... It doesn't seem to be totally undodgeable, but... It'd be better not to risk it. Reimu: So much trouble I have to put up with... ~ About Patchouli ~ Patchouli is generally harmless and reading. Once all the "Pt." and "P" items have been collected, she prepares to attack. In this state, Patchouli will let off a Fire Sign attack if you move into her line of sight. Touching the attack will fail the level. Other than simply avoiding it, rocks and other enemies can protect Reimu from the attack. [[ Tutorial 1-7 ]] Sakuya: Ah, a doll of the Mistress. Remilia: Heh heh... What kind of powers does my doll have, I wonder? Reimu: She doesn't seem to be moving, but... Patchouli: If you're lined up with her in any direction, she'll attack with a magical spear. Also, the attack will instantly kill the target and cannot be dodged. Remilia: Not bad...! Bravo, my doll! Sakuya: Simply wonderful! Reimu: Hey, wait... That's not good for me! Meiling: Well, then, just don't let her attack... I guess. Patchouli: Right. Hide behind something, or don't get into her sight. Which you could always learn the hard way, I suppose. Reimu: Gimme a break... ~ About Remilia ~ Remilia doesn't move, but the instant she sees Reimu horizontally or vertically, she'll hurl a spear at her. Once thrown, it cannot be dodged. To get around this, you need to plan your movements to hide behind rocks, other enemies, or walls. [[ Tutorial 1-8 ]] Sakuya: Oh, there's one of me, too! Remilia: So many replicas... What a truly strange commitment. That Sakuya doll is hurrying around busy as ever! Sakuya: Of course. I'm nothing like that deadbeat over there. Meiling: ?! Patchouli: Impressively, she seems to retain the ability to stop time... And if she sees something, she'll throw knives at it... And once thrown, they're sure to hit the target! Reimu: It'd be prudent to find ways to avoid getting knifed... Remilia: Impressive, Sakuya... Even as a doll, you're so reliable. Sakuya: Why, thank you, Mistress. Reimu: I'm not thankful in the least! Remilia: ...Just wish I had one to replace my gatekeeper... Meiling: ?! ~ About Sakuya ~ Sakuya is like Remilia - she'll throw knives if Reimu aligns with her horizontally or vertically. Once thrown, they cannot be dodged. Unlike Remilia, Sakuya is always moving left and right or up and down, so make sure to exercise caution. Note that "Pt." and "P" items will protect you from Remilia and Sakuya. [[ Tutorial 1-9 ]] Reimu: A Suika doll this time? Which reminds me, I haven't heard from you in a while... Meiling: She looks totally wasted. Reimu: No duh! Suika: ...Uh? Ooh! Whaddam I doin' there? Sakuya: Ugh... that stench of sake... Reimu: Whoa, this Suika doll really reeks of sake...! Remilia: Even down to alcoholic aromas... Not bad... Reimu: So, what...? Is stinking like sake her ability? Patchouli: If she sees you, she'll happily run toward you. She's mostly harmless, but her force will likely overpower you. Patchouli: But that only seems to be if she sees you vertically. If she notices you on the side, she'll sit down. Patchouli: A typical forceful drunkard... I suppose you'd say? Reimu: The real deal's stench was bad enough... I don't want her to get any closer than necessary. Suika: Hey, Reimu, don'cha wanna drink with us?! Reimu: Absolutely not! ~ About Suika ~ Suika usually walks around slowly, but if she sees Reimu vertically, she'll charge in that direction. Touching her won't hurt, but Reimu will get pushed in the direction she charges. If Suika sees you to the side while not charging, she'll sit there and won't move. [[ Tutorial 1-10 ]] ~ About Emerald Blocks ~ You can freely push around the green blocks. Like rocks and Yin-Yang Balls, they can protect from enemy attacks. [[ Tutorial 2-1 ]] ~ About Waterways ~ Reimu can't cross water, but Yin-Yang Balls can be pushed in and will float. Floating Yin-Yang Balls can be ridden. If there's a current, they'll follow it, but if not, they'll sink. Only one Yin-Yang Ball can float at a time, so if you need a second one, blow the other one out of the water with a shot. However, long-range enemy attacks have no problems going over water. [[ Tutorial 2-2 ]] ~ About Lava ~ Reimu can't cross lava, and Yin-Yang Balls won't float in it. However, long-range enemy attacks have no problems going over lava. [[ Tutorial 2-3 ]] ~ About Flowerbeds ~ Reimu can walk over flowerbeds, but enemies can't go through them. However, long-range enemy attacks have no problems going over flowerbeds. [[ Tutorial 2-4 ]] ~ About Sand ~ Sand reduces Reimu's speed by half. However, enemies' speeds are not affected by sand. [[ Tutorial 2-5 ]] ~ About Ice ~ Once Reimu steps onto ice, she continues sliding in the same direction and can't stop until she reaches the end of the ice. Emerald Blocks and Yin-Yang Balls work the same way, but enemies aren't affected by ice. [[ Tutorial 2-6 ]] ~ About One-Way Passages ~ Tiles with an arrow on them can't be entered from the way the arrow is pointing. However, you can step onto it in any way from the opposite direction, even from the side. Enemies are not limited by the restrictions of arrow tiles. [[ Tutorial 2-7 ]] ~ About Items ~ On certain maps, getting a set number of collectibles will activate an item. There are three kinds: "Water/Lava Bridge," "One-Way Passage Switcher," and "Rock-Smashing Hammer." Which items you have and how much you need to get them depends on the map. By the way, bridges over lava will crumble after a short time. [[ Tutorial 2-8 ]] ~ About Ladders ~ Some maps have ladders. The main difference from bridges is that they'll crack after one crossing and break after the second. There are also cracks that start off cracked and can only be crossed once. Enemies crossing ladders has no effect on them. [[ Tutorial 2-9 ]] ~ About Mini-Trigrams ~ On some maps, there are hidden "Mini-Trigrams" on the floor. Usually, when enemies respawn, if their tile is blocked by something, they can't come back. However, if this is the case and there's a Mini-Trigram, they'll respawn there instead. Mini-Trigrams are initially invisible, but once used, they become visible. In the case of mulitple Mini-Trigrams, if the spawn point is blocked, the enemy will go to Trigram 1; if Trigram 1 is blocked, they'll go to Trigram 2... in that order, until they can respawn. If all Mini-Trigrams are blocked, the enemy will not respawn. [[ Tutorial 2-10 ]] ~ Other Techniques ~ Here are a few techniques based on what you've learned so far. First, if two Remilias stand next to each other, both can be blocked with one Emerald Block if it covers half of each tile. The same can be done with enemies, whether they're turned into Yin-Yang Balls or not. Try using Cirno as a shield from Remilia's attacks. When Suika is pushing you, sand will not slow you down. Something else interesting will happen, so give it a try. There are many more techniques to use in Scarlet Devil Labyrinth, but they won't be mentioned here. With all these rules and hints in mind, please, try to find them yourself! [[ First Barrier Down ]] Reimu: Hmm... Well, that's the first greater barrier down. I'm tired... Wonder how many more there are...? Phew... Remilia: Boo. Reimu: Whoa! Remilia: Good work. Did I startle you? Reimu: Um, YES! Don't creep up and whisper into my ear like that, geez! ...Huh? Why are you here? Patchouli: Since you've taken down the barrier, I was able to fly us this far with magic. Sakuya: To go any further, you'll have to do away with the next greater barrier... of course. Suika: Ya doin' good, Reimu! You totally deserve a drink! Reimu: Not interested. Suika: Not interested in MY sake?! Reimu: Look, I don't want to fight. I'm tired enough. Meiling: How many of those barriers are left? Patchouli: Ah, yes. Four... Or maybe five. Or so. Sakuya: Four or five... There's still plenty to go, then... But remember, not all of the labyrinths need to be broken through to take down the greater barriers. Patchouli: When you think of it that way, it doesn't feel quite as bad, does it? Remilia: Hey, if even Patchy isn't getting discouraged, you should be just fine. Reimu: Sigh... Hey, one of you should come with me! Remilia: Eh? Reimu: I can take care of the barriers, but maybe one of you can be a decoy for the dolls? Patchouli, you know more about this labyrinth than me, right? Patchouli: ... Hack, cough... There comes that chronic disease again... Sakuya: Are you alright, Lady Patchouli?! Reimu: What is this, a soap opera...? Remilia: Wait. Patchy's magical studies do wear down on her nerves... Her condition truly is poor. I shall go! Sakuya: Mistress, you cannot! We do not know what could lie behind any corner of this labyrinth... What if something happened to you?! Reimu: What if something happens to ME?! Sakuya: As such, I shall go. Patchouli: Wait... No, I'm the only one who knows anything about the labyrinth... I'll go... Cough. Remilia: Patchouli, get some rest. Sakuya, look after Patchy. Sakuya: I cannot allow the Mistress nor Lady Patchouli to go! Patchouli: But... Remilia: I'm going. Sakuya: You can't! I will! [PS. Meiling's been slowly inching in from the left] Meiling: Uh... Well, I... All: Go on, go on! Meiling: WHAAAAAT?! Reimu: ...Fine, I'll just go alone. Uh, Suika...? Suika: Wha-hey? Reimu: Right, never mind. I'm off. [[ Second Barrier Down ]] Marisa: Ohohoho... They're coming, they're coming into the labyrinth! They must think they're geniuses, ze! Marisa: They're doing a perfect job disposing of the dolls I borrowed from Alice... Marisa: Might Reimu's little party be approaching the halfway point soon? Marisa: Hoho... But getting here from there won't be simple, ze...! Marisa: Well, since I have all these books I've borrowed from Patchouli, I suppose I ought to hurry up making "that" below the shrine... Marisa: .......... Marisa: ..... Marisa: ... Reimu: Hm, I've got this funny evil scheme feeling... Suika: Ooh, what happened? Isn't an incident, izzit? Reimu: No, no... And I don't actually have the ability to sense those, either. Reimu: Well, anyway, that's the second greater barrier down! Suika: Woo! Feels good! Reimu: Just hope I can keep up the progress. Patchouli: Now that you mention it, about Marisa... [Patchouli morphs into Marisa] Patchoulisa: Oho! There's still so much worse yet to come in this labyrinth... I haven't shown you my TRUE power yet, ze...! Patchouli: ...Don't you think she'd be saying something like that? Reimu: When I saw you suddenly turn into her, I suppose I did... Remilia: Heh. So, you'll have to do something about Marisa's "evil scheme," right? Reimu: I can't handle any more of a workload... Sakuya: You'd much prefer to hear that from Marisa herself? Patchouli: Yes, ultimately, that's about right. Reimu: Really, I'm sure there's more elaborate barriers to come... Meiling: Well, we're just flying along, so it's sure nice for us! Suika: Lotsa sake back here! S'fun! Reimu: Ugh, working away while you're sipping sake... ...Doing this for the donation, doing this for the donation... Sakuya: Blinded by greed, I see... Remilia: It's quite the delight to see Reimu like this! Reimu: Hey, I heard that! Remilia: Ahaha. Yes, as if I care. This is really just another incident, isn't it? Reimu: I guess, but it seems like there's something missing... Reimu: Look, I'm not gonna get all heartbroken about it! I'm just getting on with it! Next! [[ Third Barrier Down ]] Reimu: Well, managed to get the third one down... According to Patchouli, this'd be around halfway, right? Reimu: Owww, my hips... I feel like I've been walking forever. Remilia: We knew you'd have to get old sometime. Reimu: Ah... You caught up again. Meiling: You look really tired... Patchouli: Don't push yourself too hard... It's a very devious labyrinth. Remelia: Labyrinth... You know, I wonder if Marisa really made all of this? Sakuya: What could you mean? Remilia: The barrier was certainly her doing in some way... But don't you think the complexity of the labyrinth's traps might be beyond Marisa? Patchouli: Actually, I know something about that. Many books about the labyrinth's traps have gone missing from the library. Sakuya: So she read those and made them? Patchouli: I suppose. Those books detailed the workings of many complex labyrinths. I believe the author... Hm, I can't remember for sure, but... I believe their name may have started with "Hal"? Meiling: Like an encyclopedia for labyrinths! Suika: That's pretty sweet! Reimu: ...I suppose I have them to thank, then. Patchouli: Well, have fun figuring out the labyrinth. Reimu: Fun? Like I'm gonna have any of that! Suika: You'll pay for that, Reimuuu! Sakuya: Such a carefully thought-out labyrinth. Will the rest be any good? Reimu: Ugh... I'll get through it. I'll try to, at least. Okay, onto the next! [[ Fourth Barrier Down ]] Reimu: Fourth... barrier... down...! Patchouli: You look tired... Remilia: But you have done well solving the labyrinths so far. Reimu: Just a little more, right? Please just say a little more! Patchouli: Er... yes, I'd be glad to. There's only one greater barrier left. Reimu: One more... Only one more. I'll still keep at it... I'll still fight!! Remilia: Good thing you're in a good mood. This is starting to get tense. Reimu: My head is spinning from making it all the way here... Meiling: You ready? Let's gooo! Hiyayayayaaah! Suika: Ahahaha! Great, great! Reimu: ...Uh? What? Are you two drugged up or what? Sakuya: Since she smelled of sake, she met up with Meiling a little ways away... Sakuya: And it seems that in drinking sake, they found unity. Reimu: I almost wish I could be having that much fun... What? What's that?! Remilia: Even our gatekeeper is dead drunk... However... Don't expect to see that out of me, devil though I may also be. Reimu: (I don't WANT to say she's not an oni in terms of chest, but...) Patchouli: You say you're like an oni, but there's oni in the east and devils in the west. Isn't it amazing how different they manage to be? Remilia: The ones over there are just hearty drunkards. Meiling: Assume crane position! JAOOOOO! Suika: Ahahaha! You'sa moron! Reimu: ...Well, that's just the kind of image oni have. Remilia: Should we just shut them up...? Sakuya: ...Yes, quite. Before they embarrass themselves further... Sakuya: Meiling, over here. Meiling: Oh, Sakuya... Huh? W-What's with that dazzling smile...? Sakuya: Welcome. [Eyes go red for a second] ...I have shown you that expression before, haven't I? Meiling: T... There's an oni... Suika: Y... You's an oni too?! But, no horn? Sakuya: It'll grow later. Reimu: Why can I never catch a break...? I just can't relax. Patchouli: Rather than attempt to rest, er, restlessly, you should get going at once. Remilia: Good luck. One more. Reimu: Whew, last one... Let's resolve this quick! [[ Ending ]] At last, Reimu cleared out all the greater barriers. With all barriers in sight destroyed and no obstacles in their path, they flew onward. With all gathered, they finally opened the last door, and inside was... Reimu: Found you!! MAAARIIISAAAAAHHHHH!! Marisa: Whoa, Reimu! You made it through the labyrinth?! Not bad! Maybe I should've made it trickier? But it was cool, right? I made it myself, ze! Reimu: Don't DO this to me, Marisa! You don't know how much I've struggled...! Reimu: Trying and failing, over and over...! Dolls doing me in, again and again...! Stuck in a corner, time after time...! Reimu: Do you even realize how much trouble it was to get here...?! Patchouli: Hm, what a spirited yell she has. Remilia: You've worn out your body and mind working... But it was fun to watch! Sakuya: If the Mistress had fun, there can be absolutely no problems. A resounding success. Reimu: There was NOTHING good about it! Suika: But, wait, wasn't there all that great sake? Reimu: Just SHUT UP! Reimu: Anyway, isn't this right under my shrine?! What the hell are you doing?! Marisa: What's up, Reimu...? I don't think I've ever seen you this mad. Reimu: Who's... to... blame?! Remilia: Now, now, be calm. We'll pay the donation, remember...? Reimu: ..... [Switches to happy] ..... Suika: What is it, Reimu? Why'd you stop? Sakuya: She's trying to work out how to be angry and joyful at the same time... Meiling: Complex... So, anyway, in the end, what WAS this labyrinth? Remilia: Huh...? There are a bunch of books here. "Super Dungeon Manual"...? So naturally, these books... Patchouli: Are mine. And, of course, it was Marisa who stole them... Then again... She also has mounds of my others...! Meiling: Wait, she read these books on dungeon-making to make the labyrinth? Sakuya: Furthermore, it seems she learned of that unusual barrier from Lady Patchouli... Patchouli: She couldn't do that with these books alone. But why did she think of making a labyrinth in the first place...? Patchouli: And what's this mysterious power I've been feeling...? It's still there... Remilia: I believe... it's coming from that book Marisa's holding. Marisa: Huh? What, this? Remilia: That book... "Legend of the Magical Labyrinth"? Patchouli: That book...! It was so dangerous, I had to hide it! When'd you steal that?! Marisa: It'd hurt my reputation to say. But, um, just the usual borrowing, ze? Patchouli: I'm TIRED of your excuses!! ...C... Cough... Sakuya: Please settle down, Lady Patchouli... Meiling: What's so dangerous about that book...? Patchouli: In addition to being a story of an escape from a labyrinth, there's an evil magical power in the book... It's dangerously strong, and capable of controlling people. Marisa: What, me? Be controlled? Pfft! Crazy story, you guys. [Marisa holds up the book, which is apparently, naturally, titled LOLO] Marisa: ...Well, guess I gotta work on a new labyrinth now! Meiling: Aha... So it was controlling her all along...! Remilia: Marisa, why did you build this from our basement to here? Marisa: Oh, it had to be, ze. I had to go back and forward with the books I borrowed from Patchouli... To put them in the archives I was gonna build under the Hakurei Shrine! Sakuya: What are you...? Suika: Uh? So you was storin' away the books you stole... So nobody else'd come take 'em, right? Patchouli: Unbelievable... Marisa: No, really, I was just borrowing them! Don't worry! Marisa: Now, then, did you know this labyrinth changes shape every time you enter, ze? Ohohoho... that's fun! Sakuya: Somehow... it doesn't seem like this could all be the book's fault. Remilia: She let her desires run wild, just like those who drink sake. Suika: But she ain't no expert at drinkin' sake! Remilia: What are you saying...? Reimu: Okay, let's do it like this. Reimu: Save Marisa from being controlled by the evil book, then find some way of stopping her from stealing dungeon-making books. Marisa: Whoa, hey, that's not gonna work! First of all, I'm not being controlled! Ahahahahaha! Patchouli: You don't even deserve that book... Oh well. Remilia: Let's stand back. Sakuya: Kuwabara, Kuwabara... [Everyone but Reimu and Marisa moves away] Marisa: Huh? What? Reimu: Well, shall we? Reimu: FAN - TA - SY - SEAL!! [Screen goes white and fades back in to a beaten Marisa] Patchouli: Hack...! Excuse me. Sakuya: Mistress! Lady Patchouli! Are you alright?! Remilia: Don't worry. Reimu was well-prepared... Suika: Woo! Alright! Marisa: Gh-hack! What'd you do that for, Reimu?! Huh? Where's this? Reimu: You awake now? Patchouli: You were possessed by the book you stole from me. Marisa: Whoa, really? Reimu: Don't remember, do you...? Well, you were a real pain. Remilia: My, that was quite fun. I'll give you the donation too, so be patient. Reimu: You'll fill it to the brim, right?! Patchouli: Everything's here except the book... That's good. Shall we return? Suika: That was fuuun! Reimu: All you did was drink sake... Marisa: Uh, I'm not sure, but is this the denouement, ze? I can come back and borrow more books, right?! Meiling: Gotta hurry back! I've got a gate to keep! Remilia: Now, you who created the labyrinth... Sakuya: Yes, our spaced-out culprit. Remilia: While it was quite amusing, you'll have to tear it all down for us. Marisa: Uh... everything? Seriously?! But I don't even remember any of it... Sakuya: And you too, Meiling. As you were not performing your gatekeeping duties, you must serve some other purpose... Correct? Meiling: A... Alriiiiight... Patchouli: I'm worried she'll try to store away stolen books again... Reimu: Now for the reward, of course. Remilia: They won't be coming out until the tearing down of the labyrinth is complete. Sakuya: And of course, you as well. Patchouli: Shall we lock the door from the outside until they're done? Suika: Alright! So, how 'bout we have a labyrinth figurin' out banquet?! [Everyone pulls back off-screen] Remilia: Very well. Sakuya, make preparations. Sakuya: Understood. Patchouli: Good job breaking through that. Even if the whole library has fallen apart... Reimu: Man, I've been busting my brain for way too long! Reimu: Gim-me sa-ke! Gim-me sa-ke! .......... ..... ... Marisa: Hey, lemme ouuuuut!! Meiling: Forgive meeeee! [Credits] Oh? Is it already the ending, maybe? You've struggled through so many rooms. Yes, and after this, a new area will be unlocked! And it's an extremely difficult one! You won't get anything for beating it, but it should be a good challenge for skilled players, right? Flandre: So, won't you play with me next time? Teehee!
